I don't know how this got any good reviews unless people just can't play violin or have nothing better to compare this with. I bought it because of the good reviews and that it was allegedly set up by a luthier and allegedly ready to tune and play. First, I was shocked, yes there was a bridge in place...well, extremely deviated toward the bass side and way too tall! I tightened the strings as much as I dared and measured the action. Bass side was over 11 treble over 10!! This would make playing this thing out of box impossible in 3rd+ position and might actually cause nerve damage to the player. No joke, you would be injured if you tried to play this thing as it arrived. Also not ebony!! There's a very poor sloppy paint job on the fingerboard. Even pitted out areas on mine where a big wood knot has been painted over. That's just shameful to charge more than a hundred dollars for trash like that. The whole thing seems wonky. It's not quite a strait line down the fingerboard to tailpin. Fingerboard will need totally replaced if I play this much. It came with a plastic, yes plastic tailpiece! That's also disgusting. This is a $50 violin they are charging $150 for. I kept it because the case is nice. I replaced the bridge, and tailpiece. I also installed new pegs. I can also say the peg holes were not reamed to the same size on each set (I don't mean the taper they should have on the side opposite the turning end, I mean there was no quality control on this) Also I had to sand out the entire peg box. It was extremely rough, jagged unfinished wood with varnish on top. It would grab and shred the silk on any string the way it was. As for the sound post, the treble side F hole is raised, very visibly raised. I will have to work on that post. As is, I don't think the violin would survive rough handling, metal heavy strings or temp shifts without it breaking over the soundpost. I kept it for the case, which is quite good, and because I needed a playable violin as I am having to do some more extensive repairs in one I have had for 25 years. What I got was yet another project. But now that I have fixed all but the sound post I do like it. Beware you must must must address the soundpost and bridge/ too high action issues with this instrument. They are lying and the description needs fixed. No luthier has touched this. It's a cheap manufacturing job with no quality control. The label inside says "design in italy" I guess they can say this because it's allegedly a copy of Stradivarius. No this is a generic sweatshop knock off of a copy of Stradivarius. Unless you are comfortable doing all this work at home, expect to be out way more than just buying a decent violin if you take it to a shop. I am not being harsh or snobby. I know what I am talking about from 3 decades of experience. This is a piece of junk, but the same case retails for $150, and I put more than that in parts and for synthetic strings. The wood grain is nice, and I have it playing and sounding good so I cut my losses for now. I am including a photo of the bass side as it shipped so can see the double too high action, and of the nut so can see the poor paint job and sloppy glue leaks. This is after I sanded the inside of peg box and installed geared pegs. There are areas of uneven paint all over and around the fingerboard. If this had come from an american company I would honestly try to do a bbb complaint or similar for the false advertising on this thing. Giving it 3 stars because of the case and the attractive woodgrain. But please if you are planning to play one of these, take it to a shop or someone who can help you. It is not even minimally safe nor acceptable out of the box.

Not bad at all. Beatiful violin! Wood grain is visible, and flaming looks real. Mine Came pre-setup with bridge in place. The label says it is the 250 model. For a $100 violin, you're getting more value than you paid for. Sound is good for something so affordable. Nut is cut well. Bridge is ok, but I trimmed mine down to a more comfortable string height. I also put synthetic (Thomastik Alphayue) strings on it. Dont expect much from factory strings! And dont judge a violin by factory string snapping when tuning. Factory strings are Always brittle, low quality steel. Get a good set of strings. Get some peg drops as well, it will keep the pegs from slipping. Haven't tried the bow it came with, but it is straight and looks good. The sound is clear, but not very warm and open (maybe it'll change a bit after brake in) and volume is ok. I wouldn't say the sound is "powerful". But I don't see why people want large, powerful projection for practicing, I'm sure the neighbors don't. If you were a soloist and needed outstanding projection, you wouldn't be looking at this price range anyways. It is a great little violin, and I am baffled that it is only $100.
