Buena solución para extraer 5.1 canales de HDMI hacia cable óptico

Funcional y cumplidor para extraer el audio 5.1 de señal HDMI. Probado en Apple TV 4K (5a gen.), utilizando fibra óptica hacia mi venerable Harman Kardon AVR-510, que no cuenta con entradas HDMI. Yo no observo ningún retraso perceptible del audio vs señal de video.

Nota.- No otorgó las 5 estrellas únicamente porque se escucha un “chasquido” al iniciar la transmisión de una señal a 5.1 canales cuando antes había una señal en estéreo.

Extrae bien el audio 5.1, sin embargo la calidad de la imagen se limita a 1080p. Un aspecto a considerar para las consolas de nueva generación con salidas de video de hasta 8k.

4K problem

My 4K disk player does not have an optical out (only HDMI) so I purchased this to connect the player to the 4K TV and the (non 4K) amp at the same time. Whilst I always get the digital audio on the amp (provided the button is pressed on the box to select this), I have a video problem. Specifically, it won't play at 4K because it won't synch properly with the TV - both the player and the TV say that an HDCP 2.2 connection (which is required for 4K playback) has not been established. The player works fine connected directly to the TV and I've checked the extra HDMI cable used when using the box by trying a different (known good 4K cable) but to no avail. So whilst I can recommend this for 1080p, I can't recommend it for 4K

I have the Steel Series Arctic Wireless Pro headset which I use for both PC and PS4. I had the usb plugged into the PC and the optical cable in the PS4 so all I had to do was press the input button to swap between the 2, but with the PS5 not having an optical port, I had to start switching cables, which was a faff on, plus the unit would forget my mixamp settings everytime I unplugged it. I know this unit isn’t designed for games consoles so it’s not ideal as it only does up to 4K and 30fps but my gaming monitor is 1440p so my PS5 will only output 1080p. This unit will do 1080p 60fps so that’s fine. It all works as it should and the surround sound works fine in my headphones too. Volume is now very loud again, because plugging my headset into the PS5 directly via USB resulted in low sound and quality not as good. Very happy overall.

Only 16/48khz on optical output with 24/96 Blue Ray and DVD audio discs

Disappointed, despite some reviews stating the the optical o/p supported 24/192 audio, high res DVD and Blu Ray audio disks were down sampled to 16/48 khz .
This seems to be a common issue as I have tried other converters. It seems to be due to DVD/Blu Ray/HDMI copy protection?
This leaves me asking the question , what is the point of DVD/Blu Ray Audio discs ?

Since our setup depends on optical, it was a blow to realise that Sony had dropped the optical out from the new PS5. However, less than 24 hours later, Amazon delivered this little box, and it fixed the issue in minutes. The only downside I can see is you'll need 2 hdmi cables rather than 1.
I chose the box simply because it was small. It's sturdy, it needs a 5v supply. provided in my case by using supplied power lead plugged into the PS5 spare usb port.
Quality seems excellent. I have not tested or used the audio output. I would not have high expectations though, I mean, it would require a DAC and an amp to be of reasonable quality, which at this price would not be possible even if that was it's only function.

So, sound quality good. build quality good. All that remains is to test reliability. So far I recommend highly.

Have got this from my Apple TV to my audiophile hifi. Still a touch of compression from the Apple TV, but hardly as much as previously when taking an audio-out from the telly.

The product is satisfyingly metallic and nice and small.

Now able to have Apple TV and music streaming with a lot more quality on the hifi, but pass through to the soundbar for normal tv watching. Very satisfied.

I got this extractor to use with Chromecast in order to play Internet radio on old hifi without Internet capabilities.
I did not use it for video, hence no rating for picture quality.
At the price, the sound is great. On 350 quid Denon all in one system it sounds obviously worse than CD but not by as much as price difference would suggest.
It is much smaller than you would guess from website picture.
It has got both optical and coax digital out.
Via my Chord DAC on my main hifi system it sounds even better but clearly my friend streamer is superior.
But at 30 times the price it hardly surprising.
So as a cheap way of adding Internet radio to old hifi it works brilliantly.
I still do not understand why Amazon or other big brands can not produce 50 quid box which would combine functionality of Wi-Fi receiver and audio extractor.

I missed the boat on the original Chromecast Audio not realising that it also supported optical output and that the whole philosophy of chromecast was to take over streaming from your phone. This device combined with the Chromecast video (hdmi) provides an optical output enabling me to stream Spotify or any number of radio apps on my android phone to my hifi system. If you can stream it on your android phone most things can simply be cast to a chromecast video and this device can then provide an optical output with which to feed your DAC/hifi. It will also provide a 3.5mm analogue output but I haven't used this. Setup is plug in and go for 2 channel audio. Recommended.

Ich habe das "HDMI auf HDMI" Gerät bestellt. Laut Anleitung kein Problem was ich vorhatte. Bild- und Tonquelle an den HDMI Eingang gehängt (in meinem Fall einen FireTV Stick) und an den Ausgang HDMI zum Beamer und optischer oder coax Digital Audio Ausgang an die Vorstufe. Bild kam astrein rüber aber beim Ton hatte ich so meine Probleme. Ich versuchte das Durchschleifen der Original-Tonspure zur 5.1 Vorstufe. Es liegt zwar jeweils ein Signal an der Vorstufe an (Stereo oder Dolby Digital), aber der Ton kam nur bruchstückhaft rüber. An der Stromversorgung lag es nicht - das Gerät wurde mit 2.1A/ 5V gefüttert.
Also die Einstellungen vom FireTV Stick (1. Generation) bemüht und unter Töne/Audio die Einstellung von "Automatisch" auf "Dolby Digital" geändert. Hat leider auch nichts gebracht. Aus Verzweiflung einen anderen FireTV Stick ausprobiert (2. Generation). Kein Ton zu hören. Auch wieder die Einstellungen geändert und siehe da, 5.1 DolbyDigital wird übertragen. Evtl. ging es nicht wegen der HDMI Version vom 1. Gen Stick oder dessen HDCP Fähigkeit... wer weiß. Ende gut, alles gut.

I wanted to connect an old games console (PS3) to my monitor. However, my monitor does not have built-in speakers, and there are no options to use Bluetooth for sound (i.e., it was not possible to connect my PS3 to the monitor for video and to a separate Bluetooth speaker for audio). This device solved this problem by allowing me to separate the video and audio signals. Essentially, I plugged my PS3 into this with a HDMI cable (video and audio input), plugged in another HDMI cable connected to my monitor (video output), and plugged a speaker into it with an AUX cable (audio output). Along with the power cable to supply electricity to the device (provided with the device), that makes four cables and a little box on my desk. It's very easy to switch between using the monitor for gaming and for work, I simply connect the HDMI cable from my monitor to my laptop instead of the device. Minimal fuss and hassle-free. I've been using it for about a month now and am very satisfied. (Note that the HDMI and AUX cables I mentioned are not supplied with this device).

When my new 4K fire stick started causing audio dropouts connected to my non-hdmi equipped yamaha receiver I thought it might be the end for the receiver.

On a hunch I figured it worth replacing the old HDMI->optical audio converter which I'd been using with my old fire stick.

Thankfully this worked and I get to carry on using my receiver :-)
