Surprising Good Socks

Up until this point I had yet to actually purchase an Amazon-branded item, but in desperate need of new socks, I broke down and purchased them. They're very well made, with a fair amount of padding on the sole and reinforced toes. I have moved to wearing these exclusively and plan on buying another package of 10 soon. I always feel like I have a difficult time finding socks that I truly like and since I haven't been able to find the kind I like any longer on the Walmart site I am pleased to find a substitute. And also an excuse to not go to Walmart.

Nice socks, but not for large legs

The socks are nicely made and well priced, but they don't work for overweight people, or people with swollen feet/ankles. I originally bought them for myself, but they cut into my calves so deeply, I gave them to my mother, who loves them. Use your weight as a guide before buying.

I needed socks to wear in my hiking boots, and because I have slightly swollen feet I needed socks that have cushion, but not too much cushion. Amazon Essentials socks are the only ones I have found that are cushiony enough, but not too thick for some of my narrow boots.

But sizing is an issue. I wear a size 9 shoe, so I ordered 8-12. In only tried on one pair of solid white socks, and they fit perfectly. Then I ordered two more packs in the same size. However, I found out that the socks with the colored heel are longer than the solid white ones, and the toe seam is sewn differently as well. The socks are bulkier, not as well fitting and annoying in boots.

So I returned one pack (as the others already had been opened and washed) and ordered size 6-9 socks in black. They fit perfectly, just as the solid white socks in the larger size. The only difference is that the black (smaller) ones are a little bit tighter in the ankle area than the bigger size. For me this isn't a problem, but I could imagine this being an issue for someone with swollen ankles or bigger calves.

All in all they are very good socks. They seem to be of decent quality, but Amazon should ditch the ones with the colored heel. They are pretty, but they are definitely not smooth or well fitting in the toe area. The polyester content in these is higher too (than in their solid colored counterparts).

Don't fit well, don't feel like cotton, silly colors

I wish they didn't have the stupid colored toes and heels. ALL the socks should be all white so I don't have to waste time matching them up into pairs after doing the laundry. Plus, the foot section of the sock is a little too big and the brightly colored heels show over the tops of my sneakers. I find it insulting that manufacturers think women's socks need to be colored like that. They don't do it to the men's socks.

The socks don't fit right. The leg cuff is on the tight side which is why I bought the larger size, but then the foot section is too big. You can't win. If you pull the sock on all the way, the heel is up by the Achilles tendon. But if you put the heel back where it should be, you get bunching and wrinkling from the loose sock fabric all over the foot section. If you buy the smaller size, the leg cuff will probably be too tight.
(my shoe size is women's 8.5 wide)

The description and packaging say these socks are made mostly of cotton but they don't feel like it. They feel like some other man-made material and they make my feet sweat more.

I really like these socks. They wash well(twice now), and are very comfortable. They ARE slightly long and slightly narrow, as others have commented. I wear size 8 shoes and they fit me fine. If I wanted, I could stretch the heel past my foot heel, I assume to accommodate size 9. I do not think these would work for large calves(mine are 12" at top of sock). I think the colors are nicer than pictured...slightly darker.

May be my fault as at one time socks weren't sized this way. A simple 9-11 fit most women and was not based on shoe size. I wear a shoe size 8.5. Went with larger sized socks after reading reviews. Big mistake! These socks are huge! So big that after washing and finding no shrinkage, I passed them to husband. (He doesn't mind the colored toes as he is using them for sleep socks, just as I had planned to do. He wears a men's size 9.5 shoe) They truly are soft but a bit thin.
I think directions for sizing could have been more clear. I probably would have worn the smaller size for sleep. Since I had washed a pair I did not feel I could return them. Because of my experience and other ratings I won't order again. A shame because price is great.

Weird fitting

I had read the reviews for these before buying them, and a lot of buyers complained about the fit. But I needed socks and I liked how these looked, so I figured it was worth trying them regardless. Unfortunately, those reviews weren't wrong. I don't know what kind of measurements they used when making them, but they definitely aren't anything like my proportions, and I don't consider my feet weirdly shaped by any means.

The most common complaint I read is that these were tight through the ankles, so it was best to err on the larger side. Since I'm usually a size 8, I figured that meant getting the 8-12 size instead of the 6-9. Turns out that wasn't a solution either. Honestly, the ankle fit is still noticeably tight, although not enough that I would call it actively uncomfortable. But because I went with the larger size, the sock itself is laughably oversized. The heel falls somewhere up on my ankle, which is sort of fine for the completely white ones, but looks weird with the ones with colored heels. This might be forgivable except that by definition it's supposed to fit a size 8, and it definitely doesn't. And it's still tight in the ankle. Whose feet are these made for?

The actual make of the socks seems fine. They seem thick enough and the colors are a nice touch. But I can't give them a good rating because the fit is so bad. I've never had to worry about socks fitting me before. It's weird. I won't be buying these again.

I have been looking for some medium weight, extra long socks for quite a while. The cushioned ones are too thick and the lightweight ones are too thin. These are a really nice medium weight and the stretch is excellent but not too tight around my ankles. One or two pairs had some tiny elastic strings that came loose the first time I washed them but this did not continue. I am glad I found these!

This was HORRIBLE! I thought they might match the AMAZON BASICS quality - we use a lot of their stuff. But OMG!! They are for SMALL feet. But that’s not the worst of it, the colored socks are OK, I guess. Don’t know what will happen when I wash them.

BUT! The white socks have a washed-out HANES logo on them. No idea if they are real or fake. But they are old and have not only been laundered but some are still dirty on the bottom! THEY HAVE BEEN WORN! Warning! Stay AWAY!

I bought the same item in crew size and they fit great! These are loose an too big. They slide aroundmy foot when walking in socks until the colored heal is on top of my foot. In sneakers, the colored heal has to be pushed way p the back of my ankle and the sock has to be tight on my foot before I put it in my sneeaker, or the sock bunches up and slides around. These are oversized and therefore very uncomfortable. They are soft, though! They are pretty warm. My foot is 8 1/2. These would be better for a size 11 or 12.
