I do some AV work from time to time. I'm not a professional, but I do a lot of marketing work. Over the years I've picked up some cheaper lights, backdrops, and mics. I can't make something professional but I can make something very good. A lot of people just using their phone and their AirPods for quick interviews and podcasts, so the bar of expectations seems to be getting a lot lower.
This mic stand is really perfect for what i do. its cheap enough to be affordable, and the quality is excellent. Its sturdy and stable. The Boom feature works well. Certainly, its not as good as a professional stand in any way, but its not supposed to be. Nor is it priced that way. We would all love to pay $40 for a $100 value, and if you are dead set on that mentality, then don't buy this mic stand, buy the $100 one.
At a higher price point, you'd find weighted base, articulated movement, smoother action with the fittings, etc. This one is a very basic design.
There are a lot of mic stands that are sub-$40 that also work great in the sense that they will hold a mic for you, but this one is worth the extra money to have something that will hold up under some use.
Overall I'd recommend it. Its a great mid price range stand.
I'm very pleased with this stand. The stand is very easy to set up and very stable. It's much sturdier and more robust than the cheap Amazon Basic stands I have. It's made of heavier steel and aluminum with few plastic parts. The only thing that worries me are the plastic hinge points on the legs. The tripod has two mounting points so it can hold a microphone as well as another mic, device or accessory (you'll need to buy the appropriate holder). The mount points can be used with either 5/8" or 3/8" thread mic clips or accessories using the included adapters. It also includes two usable (but so-so mic) mic clips. Very solid mic stand.
You are going to like this one. It's lightweight but stays in place when set up and it is easy to get into your custom set up and stays in place really well. It comes with the clamp but I don't know if the clamp is a special size or if the design in clamps has changed but my old clamps don't fit it so if this is something that may be an issue to you check your sizing. The price is fair for the item and the quality is great. We used it at a recent event and it did it's job beautifully. 4 stars.

This is pretty easy to set up and is adjustable from 3.1 to 5.3 feet. That gives you a pretty good sliding scale. We got this for game nights and I had no trouble unpacking it and adjusting it. I need something that I could move down for the five year olds and up for the thirty year olds and this hit the spot with no problems. I would have liked it a little heavier in weight but my husband pointed out if the little ones pulled it over it would not hurt them due to it being on the lighter side. So it really depends on your needs.
A while ago I purchased the older version of Amazon's Microphone Stand (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019NY2PKG). This is a very welcomed upgrade to their product line as they have substantially improved the boom arm adjustment knob making it much sturdier and robust. Instead of a simple turn handle, it is now large plastic gear with a metal turning piece. It is bulkier but it is sturdier and has a higher professional look and feel to using it. The base of this stand is quite heavy and sturdy.
This boom stand is great for a guitarist who also sings. I found this to be quite useful for that type of performing myself. I wish it were only ever so slightly heavier as I believe a well weighted mic stand is usually better, as you really don't want anything to knock it down. At 5.84 lbs. it is still weighted enough to hold its own very well I would say!
