This product seems to operate fine. The reason I am returning it and giving it a terrible review is that in order to pair the product with the app you have to give the app wholly invasive permissions to your phone. It's ludicrous that bluetooth pairing won't function unless you give the app access to your phone's location, camera, and storage. Why on earth would it need access to all of that, or any of it? I have other bluetooth control apps for smart devices in my house that need none of that and function perfectly. If you deny any if the permissions the bluetooth will not pair and the device will not function properly.

So it looks good and is easy to set up. HOWEVER when you install the app it shows a screen where you have to give them permission to all the data on your phone. This includes full access to your photos and documents, your GPS, and cached data from other apps on your phone.
Without the app you cant change much about the lights and the app will not work at all unless all permissions are granted. There is no reason for all of this when controlling a light. Also if they ever have a data breach that will be devastating to their customers.

Update: It already stopped working.. I only have stars and no galaxy/nebula lights. I'll be trying elsewhere.

To make it work you have to download an app. The app wants permissions for everything in your phone. Pictures contacts location. Why the heck does this star light projector need all this?
And then the app makes your phone draggy and makes it stutter. Oh. Because it's sending all of your data somewhere else even though you said no.
I disallowed all of the above permissions and the device wouldn't even linked with my phone. What a horrible thing. The people that sell this should be ashamed of themselves.
Brand new Galaxy s21. Hope I don't have to do a factory reset after downloading this crap app.
Don't buy! Don't buy! Don't buy! You will be sorry.

The projector itself is amazing, but in order to change the colors or the nebula you have to use their app. The only problem is, the app asks for way too much info. (Location permissions, wifi access, camera, gallery, contacts, calls, storage, etc.) It's because of this reason, that I give this product 2 stars. I can't even use it to it full potential.

The surface area this puts out is miniscule. Sitting on a 2' table it barely puts out enough light to illuminate 3 square feet.

The app requires WAY too many permissions and is very limited in what it can do.

The price is sky high for what it does. Cheaper brands work better for far less money.

the box clearly says Blue stars and RGB Cloud, but the unit I got only got Blue lasers stars as shown on the photo. What is the point of having that sphere under the laser light if the RGB light in it doesn't work? The App was non-responsive either, even after agreeing to all permissions to try controlling the "cloud" effect from there but to my disappointment, I still didn't get any nebulas. I'm going to return mine and just forget about getting another unit. It's not worth it.

Timer function doesn't work...

A few issues;

1. Timer function doesn't work as documented. You'd think something so simple could be implemented so easily... Time, day, duration. Instead they use a function of, "when powered, stay on for x, then turn on again in y hours" - not unreasonable but does not work.

2. Motor on one of these just started making creaking noises. Support is by phone only.

3. The app to control the light is SO slow to connect.

4. IF you're thinking to use a smart switch to turn these on, you can do that, but any customizations to scenes cannot be in any way programmed to be the default. The timer, again, is the only way.

Everything works great... It's easy to use...and instructions were accurate and simple. .. Shipping was lightning fast... I just wish it was brighter when projecting onto my walls and ceiling... The colors are pretty vibrant and the design and clarity of the picture is great however I find that I need to turn off all the lights in order really see the full effects of this super cool star lamp..:(

I love how bright and good this bright this light looks but it lacks in options. For $60 + you would think they could add more than 3 colours as well as modes. Other than that i would say that the light is super duper bright and you need to be careful not to look at it. I know that sounds stupid and common sense but just a glace will give you a headache.

Is it cool? Yes
Could it be better? Absolutely

Am I happy with spending the amount I did on it? I actually think this light should be reduced in price because it doesnt link with your music or movies. It lacks in color options and modes. Other than that its a great looking light. I just expected more. If you could care less about that stuff and can set that aside, its amazing to have this light!
