La penna mi e' piaciuta ed e' un ottimo prodotto per i materiali per la forma e scatta bene , pero' e' una comune penna come molte altre che non costano 40 euro , credo che non e' l'involucro la cosa importante ma quello che la fa funzionare , ovvero l'inchiostro che costa circa 8 euro soli e che ha tutti i meriti descritti , quindi secondo me c'e' qualcosa che non va , forse dovevano invertire i prezzi , ma nessuno avrebbe speso 40 euro per un tubetto di inchiostro , ma per una cartuccia stampante si !!!

Fisher AG7

As promised, I'm updating my original review of the Fisher AG7. The Pen I received in February had it's problems. The clip wasn't engraved and the spring mechanism was weak, causing the pen to click itself open all the time.

BUT..... Fisher Customer Service came through for me. They were excellent. Heidi from Fisher had me send my AG7 in for repair once the engraving machine was working again. Fisher replaced my clip with the "Fisher AG7" logo shown in the marketing material and replaced the spring in the pen. They returned the pen back to me within just a couple weeks.

Now, after these repairs this pen is excellent! I write with it every day at work and at home. The upgraded spring is strong. My AG7 now has a positive click when opening and retracting. It no longer clicks itself open when in my pocket or bag. The engraved "Fisher AG7" clip is tasteful and classy. I understand that this is just visual, but I bought this pen because I wanted a replica of the original.

Now my AG7 behaves and looks like it should have when I originally ordered it. I understand Fisher is a big company that can't simply halt the supply chain or stop fulfilling orders when an engraving machine breaks. I also understand that only certain discerning customers would ever notice an non-engraved clip.

From a Quality Management/Control perspective I recommend Fisher take a solid look at the springs they're using. I don't know if use of the weak springs are caused by a problem in the supply chain or by a corporate decision to reduce cost/save money. Either way, the spring that originally shipped with my pen was defective, and Customer Service was already aware that there was a spring issue. I'm glad the repair center upgraded it for me. In my opinion, the AG7 pens should ship with the upgraded spring in the first place.

Thank you Heidi and Fisher for making everything right. I enjoy your products to include this AG7 and bullet pens that I also own. So much so that I'm thinking about gifting everybody in my family a bullet pen for the holidays. The best Overall Rating I can do for the AG7 on Amazon is 3 stars because new AG7 pens are shipped with the known weak spring issue, which means future buyers will also have to send their new pens in for repair. Shipping to repair isn't that expensive, but it did cost me about 8 bucks extra. Fisher also had to ship the pen back to me, which probably cost them a couple bucks too. (probably 10x more than the cost of installing the proper spring the first time)

Original Post February 2019:

I received my AG7 on 2/22/19 from Amazon. The pen delivered is not as described. The packaging is authentic, but the pen’s clip is not engraved Fisher AG7, and the spring operation is weak, making the pen unintentionally click open.

I was concerned that I received a fake, but wanted to confirm before returning the item.

I called Fisher customer service on 2/25.
702-293-3011 and spoke with a nice person named Heidi.

Heidi told me that the clip engraving machine has been down for 3 months, and that newer pens don’t have the engraved clip featured in the pictures.

I also asked about the weak spring feel when clicking the pen. Heidi says they have been trying a new spring.

I expressed that I am not pleased with the product as it claims to be the exact design and construction as the pen used in 1969, which is not what I received.

Heidi took my email info and told me that I will be notified when the clip engraving machine is working. At that time, they will replace my pen with a new engraved clip pen with a stronger spring installed.

I look forward to hearing from Fisher in the near future.

I will update this review when I receive the replacement pen.

It's just not durable enough, it fell on the floor and the retracting mechanism failed. I sent it back for warranty and they fixed it but shortly after the pocket clip snapped right off. If I kept it on my desk it would do just fine but I can't carry something that will constantly break. I'm back to carrying my decade old parker jotter, it's nowhere near as nice as the AG7 but it works.

Spring mechanism broke after 6 months after daily use(5 days a week a few dozen times a day). I use the pen every day that i'm at work. I use it to mark lumber to cut, or take notes on paper, and write things down when i'm talking to my customers. I use space pens because they are a reliable writing utensil. Mostly because of the long lasting always writes "ink cartridge". I like space pens for the aesthetic and writing reliability. But this pen's spring mechanism broke after 6 months of use(i've had a different fisher space pen model that never broke, but i lost it so i thought i'd try this model).

Now that it's broken. When i hit the release button on the side to retract the ink cartridge...nothing happens, the ink cartridge stays out. I have to tap the ball point against something while i hold the button down to get it to go back in.
I'm pretty disappointed on how long this pen lasted compared to another model from the same company(Fisher).

Edit: After having to tap the ball point to get the ink cartridge to retract for a couple months, the button you push to make the ink cartridge come out to write fell out. So that's another thing that broke now. Forgot to mention that.

I’ve bought 2 of these pens and both have had the same problem...
Lemme start off by saying the AG-7 is a very aesthetically pleasing pen to the eye. It feels great in the hand and has a nice weight to it. It feels very durable. The clicking mechanism is so addictive. It’s the best feature of the pen, in my opinion. I often found myself extending and retracting the pen for hours.

The problem is the pen is not as durable as it feels. Both pens were dropped by accident from about waist or desk level and hit ground.
After both falls, the retracting mechanism on both pens failed. The most wonderful part of the pens are now broken. No more clicking... just a pen stuck in the out position that can not be carried in a pocket anymore. Very disappointing.

I’ve used this pen dally for a few months now.
Pros: Good ink, quick action, low profile in hand/pocket.
Cons: Feels cheap/ink raffles on the inside, the clip is also flimsy and doesn’t fit well in the pocket of “thick” jeans. Value for the money is not here.
Overall: So far this is the best low profile normal “edc” pen I’ve found, it just doesn’t have the value for the money. When it brakes I will not be buying another, unless the price drops substantially.

Constantly Unscrews Itself

I love space pens but my only issue with them was the fact that they didn't have a good clip for jeans. I got this one to resolve the issue. Only problem I have is that the pen keeps unscrewing itself in my pocket and it's extremely annoying. I've never had a problem like this before and half the time when it comes out of my pocket it's half way unscrewed.

Not a bad pen, but overall, I was disappointed for the price. First and most important, it writes with a fair amount of friction, which is disappointing for the price paid. Also, it's a rather thin pen, which increases writing fatigue for me (although I do like the ridges near the tip of the pen for grip). Finally, I will agree with another reviewer that the clip is so close to the end of the pen, it's difficult to extract it from one's pocket. Not bad, but I would not buy another one of these at this price.

It’s a good pen, but I don’t like the side button release. For some reason it keeps going back to the open (writing) position in my pocket. I bought this to use with water resistant note pads. I wish I had gone with a shorter model with a snap on cap I could carry in my pants pocket. If no one sees it no one will “borrow” it. I think they over play the astronaut thing, this pen is too expensive for a twelve year old.

This pen has an amazing history, and makes a great gift. Unfortunately, none of the Fisher Space Pens actually write well, so this pen is limited to being eye candy on my desk.
