Generally, rack mounts and screws can get finicky, but these holes are very poorly cut to begin with. Before even using it, you can see jagged edges, wavy threads and some grooves are more shallow than others. I will try re-tapping the holes. Very inconvenient.
I’m new to racks. I was given an amp and I wanted to build a box to put the amp in to protect it and get it off the floor. I purchase the 4U thinking I could leave one slot above and one below for air flow. Not so the amp took up two slots but the hole spacing only allowed for the top to or the bottom 2. If I did this again I’d get the 6u to slow the 2 spaces above and below. Over all if I add another rack item them takes up 2 spaces It will still be worth it. I also purchased bolts and rubber feet to add to my custom built box.
I had 2 pieces of 1-Unit rack technology on a bookshelf next to my microphone that were sliding all the time. This was around my right shoulder in my case. If I had a pic it would be a dbx channel strip and a Furman power strip.
Fixed. They don't slide now due to their combined weight (and the rubber feet on the bottom of the bottom device). The leftover two inches of the upper stems are a great bonus help to keep the cables and wires out of my way.
Gator means quality! They feel heavy and very sturdy. No sharp edges, the paint looks great and it has numbers according to each unit space. Real Gator product. The rails were installed in a DIY 4U cabinet, I left 7 inches in the inside, in between the top and bottom pieces. When I tried to install the rails they just fit perfectly! Initially I thought I was going to buy it from the local musical equipment retailer but the Amazon vendor has a very competitive price, so I decided to save fuel and time by ordering it here. I'm happy with this purchase!
Of the 24 screw holes, only three were threaded well enough to accept the recommended 10-32 screw. The rest were impossibly snug/off-kilter. Also, these rails just shipped in a plastic bag, so not even sure if it's the claimed Gator brand or not. Anyway, poor QA, unusable. Returning these ASAP.
