so every major review site says this thing was good and i had norton net security for years and while i knew it was a lil clunky it never failed me...it did its job and i ahve always had fairly powerful computers so i didnt mind it using alot of resorces..i barely ever noticed. i decided it was time to try something new so i got kaspersky net security once my norton sub was expired. its now been a month so i feel i can give it a fair review. it seems to have alot more customizable options as far as how you want it to protect so it took me a while to get it how i wanted but once i figured it out it was great. everything about it just seems to be a bit faster..not alot but i do notice that things load faster, pc start up and shut down are a lil faster. this thing does its job so if you are interested in getting it i say give it a shot..keep in mind im someone who has pc's with power...as to what this thing does with someone running a rig with a dualcore who knows? i would say that if you do have a sub to norton there is no need to not finish it and get this..get this if it runs out and you want to try something new...yes its better in my opinion however not that much better that you would want to waste a paid sub.

I have been using Kaspersky for years now. I haven't turned away from it because it does what I want it to do. I've tried Norton, if a problem ever occurs it tells you how much it can't do while slowing your computer down. I've tried Mc Afee, what a joke. It tells you all this crap to make you think its working, it reminds me of the "looking busy" retail atmosphere. I've tried Trend Micro, they were King of the hill for awhile and well lets just say the King was overthrown. I've tried Bitdefender, it defended me like a gas powered weapon. It ran out of fuel and it let me down. KASPERSKY works. I use to waste my time trying to keep crap off my computer and it wasted so much of my time that I felt like I would pay 80 dollars just to keep from dealing with that. This new one has a safe run feature that allows you to install stuff and test it out without it affecting your computer. You push the button and everything you just installed is gone just like that. It has a boot feature on this disk if you computer won't start. This program is complex and it works. It reminds me of Version 6 and 7. I don't know what they had on their mind for 2009 KIS but they are back. Love this program.

I recently upgraded to Kaspersky 2011 on all six of my Windows computers. Five are running XP and one is Windows 7. All of them stopped running I until I finally gave up and uninstalled Kaspersky 2011. "Kaspersky support" is an oxymoron. There is NONE! When you try to find Help they take you to a web page that encourages you to upgrade to 2012 (free). I tried it but it produced the same problem. The culprit is a program called AVP.EXE. It takes over 99% of the processor cycles and more than 400 MB of memory (RAM). That sure keeps the viruses away!? Nothing else can run in that environment: no virus and no program either. The computer becomes worse than useless. Kaspersky 2011 and 2012 have wasted three days of my valuable time while I diagnosed, tried to repair and finally had to uninstall. Even the uninstaller had trouble getting enough cycles to complete.

The good news is that there is a happy ending. I have uninstalled Kaspersky and my computer is working fine again. Now I will have to waste the rest of the day fixing the other five computers.
