I have a great eye for fashion and could tell just by the item description and photographs that this coat would be a keeper, and it is. A girl can never have too many of anything fashion-related, and jackets/coats is one of those things. The coat was delivered quickly, softly packaged, and undamaged. Its construction is impeccable -- as a seamstress myself, I appreciate sewing that is nicely finished and this jacket is well-finished inside and out. The black color is a deep black; the puffer fill is extremely lightweight, yet perfectly warm, and the length hits (me) a few inches below the top of the leg -- that length is more flattering, plus the fact that it nips in a bit at the waist and has a slight A-line flair that makes it doubly flattering. The side pockets are just the right depth, not shallow. It zippers up the front with a placket covering to hide the zipper (nice touch). I am not a fan of snaps on the underside of the placket, but I suspect it's helpful in geographical areas that are windy and quite cold to keep the flap flat. For me in California, that's not a problem. If the jacket is left unfastened, the snaps are visible and I'm not fond of that from a stylish, aesthetic perspective. However, I realize that this type of coat is made for warmth, not fashion and would normally be fastened anyway.

Some reviewers mentioned the snugness of the sleeves. Yes, for some reason, the sleeves are a bit narrow for the coat. I took that into account in sizing up from my usual Small to a Medium and that was a good decision. Although the sleeves aren't an issue for me because I have slender arms, it does mean that it would more difficult to wear a bulkier sweater underneath because the fit of the jacket was generous enough to allow that otherwise. Then again, the warmth of a puffer coat makes it more likely to wear lighter weight sweaters or pullovers underneath, which I do anyway, so that isn't a problem. Altogether, the medium sleeves were not too long (bonus) and I appreciate the extra room it gives over the Small size. I can't recommend what size anyone else chooses, just know your body and take your requirements for a puffer jacket into account. I made the right sizing decision on this jacket for me.

Also, some reviewers complained about the "clown" collar or that it resembled the stiff, pleated "ruff" collar worn in the Elizabethan period. Actually, the collar is the most stylish thing about the jacket and was the whole reason that I ordered it in the first place. My only fear was the medium jacket (larger than my usual size) would make the collar overpowering on my neckline. Not at all. It looks fantastic and when fashionably arched up in the back (helps with cold down the neck) it looks even better than I anticipated and has an added tie that adds even more style. So, the jacket is not only well-made and stylish, but also thoroughly functional. I have zero complaints about it and will love it for years to come.

Note: There are washing/drying instructions that suggest using 3 tennis balls in the dryer. This should be heeded and will prevent wrinkles. Happy wearing!

Stylish, warm, comfortable

This fun jacket is as cozy as it is cute. I really love the unique shawl collar that adds extra protection against the cold by providing neck warmth. There are two ties that can pull the collar snugly closer, thus helping keep warm, too. The zipper is heavy-duty and works well. Additionally, four snaps close over the zipper, hiding it and helping again with warmth. The sleeves end in a ribbed material to fit securely against the wrists. The pockets are deep enough that you can put things inside without worrying about them falling easily out—I hate shallow pockets! This is a well-made and well-designed jacket. Finally, the sizing is as expected. It is roomy enough to have a sweater underneath but doesn’t look or feel overly bulky. The jacket is as attractive as it is functional. I really love it and can’t wait to wear it all winter long!

Beautiful puffer jacket with a little more room in the hips than usual

The sizing on this brands clothes seem a little bit all over the place, with their pants fitting exceptionally tight, their dresses and shirts fitting a little bit tight, and this jacket fitting larger than my other large jackets fit.

Nevertheless, the quality level on all, once you can find your correct size, is exceptional. This jacket was beautifully designed and made with a lovely, immediately warm quilting that makes you feel enveloped in a warm cloud within about 30 seconds of putting it on. The interesting pillow color is something I've never seen before, but I really like, as it increases the coziness factor and also is a stylish little extra.

The fit is a flattering shape for women, that it fits around the bust nicely, has enough room in the shoulders that I can drive easily while wearing it, and nips in just a little bit around the waist and then flares out at the hips. For me, I have a little bit more of a straight shape, so I felt that it flared out a little more than I wanted at the hips, but the two women that I asked the opinions of thought it looked very nice indeed and didn't see any problem at all. I think for most women who actually do have a normal amount of hip flair, this would be a particularly well fitting and flattering piece.

The quality level of the stitching, fabric choice, etc., is exceptional. I have worn it in the rain, just for short periods, and it didn't seem to be soaking up water excessively and indeed kept me warm and dry.

Warm, Well-Made Jacket

This Lark & Ro Women's Short Shawl Pillow Collar Puffer Jacket is a nice warm puffer w polyester fiber fill and a nylon shell. There's a zipper down the front and snap closures over the zipper as well. This has a neck pillow type of collar which is an interesting concept I've not seen before, and which is attractive when laid out like petals on a flower and warm if you squish it towards your neck. The sleeves are ribbed elastic and inset, to protect against wind or dampness going up your arms, and there is a decorative tie ribbon around the neck. The ribbon looks like it could tighten the neck pillow closer to your neck, but no. it simply is a tie that oddly just goes around your neck- they should not have bothered and just sewn the ties onto the sides of the jacket neck if it was just for looks. If you pull on the tie, it directly tightens around the back of your neck, without moving any part of the outfit. kinda lame.

Despite that wasted utility of tie element, this is a really well made jacket and very comfortable. The size i'm wearing is XS, and I got this for my teen daughter, who wouldn't pose for me. I normally wear medium, and you can see this fits very snugly on me in my pic, but still fits. I think if you get your normal size, this will be a comfortably relaxed fit around the torso.

Classy cut!

The cut of this jacket is unique because it is classy and could go well with a dress or a fancier event, unlike most down jackets. It's sort of an Aubrey Hepburn type cut, whatever that is called. I am 5'5" and the small would fit me comfortably in a range anywhere from 105 lbs to 130 lbs while still looking decent. The arms are not tight and they don't constrict you when you move. The zipper is heavy duty/high quality. The jacket also has snaps to snap over the zipper, silver. The collar tie is not useful, does not cinch the collar, but it looks cute. Two front pockets, deep, soft. You will feel like you're swathed in a cozy sleeping bag while still looking stylish in this.
