Lousy script writing ... should of done John Wick 4 first, not matrix 4
Reseñado en los Estados Unidos el 10 de marzo de 2022
Clearly, the actors were mumbling and ranting about how great Neo is, what each actor feels about Neo and getting the right cameo shots so they look good on film. This film took 1 hour just to justify this film's right to be the fourth film of the Matrix franchise ... little to no action took place during the first hour. I wished I never bought this movie.
Sorry, but the audience judges weather or not this film has the right to sit next to Matrix 1 thru 3 ... and no, it has not earned the right to do so. Film was very disorganized and dialog was poorly written so no grade A actors could of pulled it off. This film needs a do over ... like they did with Batman vs Superman.
I always wondered why Laurence Fishburne was not invited to act in this Matrix movie ... hopefully, John Wick 4 will not disappoint.
Seems like they killed the Matrix Franchise by neutering Neo's powers at the end of the film ... just like they killed the James Bond Franchise by killing James Bond. Unbelievable. Just because one can kill a franchise does mean one should do it.

BIG disappointment - do not bother purchasing if a fan of the original trilogy
Reseñado en los Estados Unidos el 15 de marzo de 2022
We binged watched the original Matrix trilogy over a weekend prior to watching this sequel. Obviously, the original Matrix movie is the best--the concept was deep but cohesive in its unfolding of events so that the viewer understood what was happening and why. Great acting and special effects with the classic lines we love to remember. Second and third movies in the trilogy were also decent and at least true to the original concept.
Matrix Resurrections was confusing, poorly acted, and just not "true" to the original Matrix trilogy. Even the characters of Neo and Trinity were disappointing and poorly acted--not the heroes we loved from the original trilogy. Lawrence Fishburne did not return for Morpheus nor did Hugo Weaving return to play Agent Smith--and it's understandable why they would not want to be associated with this movie. A new character The Analyst was added to the movie--and his purpose was just as confusing as the entire plot. A new, young group of actors were playing the team trying to "save" Neo and Trinity -- Neo and Trinity were heroes in the original Matrix movies and did not need saving by anyone else! Also, the writers apparently felt like the concept needed updating introducing "modals", video games, new technology references, etc. How was using a mirror as a portal to the Matrix more modern than the old dial-up phones????
What more can be said? Watch it for free or don't watch it at all if you don't want to spoil your memories of the original Matrix trilogy.

3 1/2 stars. An entertaining but unnecessary sequel to a great series.
Reseñado en los Estados Unidos el 16 de abril de 2022
Possible spoilers. In my lifetime of watching movies, there are only a handful that left my jaw-dropped or had me jumping out of my socks. The original 1999 “The Matrix” was one of them. From that opening scene when Trinity had to fight off dozens of police and other men in black suits, skinny black ties and sunglasses, I was hooked. The first sequel was nearly as good but the second dropped off a bit, except for a perfect conclusion. So now, 18 years later, Lana Wachowski takes on an attempt to…uh, resurrect the franchise, this time without her sister, Lilly.
I re-watched the trilogy before taking on this film but I’m not sure I needed to. It is as if, it is a condensed version of those films. Early on, a character named Bugs (Jessica Henwick, “Love and Monsters”) does her excellent recreation of that Trinity sequence from the first movie. She has a similar role. That is, approach Thomas Anderson (Keanu Reeves) who is back in his civilian role as an ace programmer who was successful at creating a video game called The Matrix. His boss is now Smith played by Jonathan Groff, (“Hamilton”) as the original actor Hugo Weaving was busy.
Groff does his best to imitate that slithering cadence of Weaving’s iconic way of talking. Smith and “the board” want a sequel to the game. Thomas Anderson/Neo will also be reintroduced to the new Morpheus (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, “Aquaman”) replacing Laurence Fishburne. Anderson/Neo will of course take the right pill, especially if there is a chance to see his true love, Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss).
In an interesting set up, he will meet Trinity in a coffee shop, but she is called Tiffany, is married and has a couple kids and has no idea to Anderson/Neo is. How’s this all going to work. The trip back inside the Matrix will find Trinity still alive, hooked up to one of those pods and submerged in fluid. The question is, has the head machine kept his word and honored the peace. Guess not.
There are a couple disappointments in this film. Neo seems to have no real powers like he used to. He’s somewhat limited to tossing out a force field with his hands. Something many superheroes can do. There’s a ridiculous amount of unnecessary mumbo jumbo, much of it coming from a new character called The Analyst (Neil Patrick Harris, “Downsizing”) who is Anderson’s shrink. A returning character in the original series, Niobe is still played by Jada Pinkett Smith who for some reason appears to have aged 50 years instead of 18. That made no sense. And then the inability of the scores of “Smith” clones going after our good guys to somehow miss wounding anyone takes that aspect to new levels of ineptitude. In one scene, the baddies are chasing down the goodies in a passageway, firing automatic weapons with hundreds or thousands of bullets but can't hit anyone. One good guy with a handgun is somehow lethal, however. Please stop.
The movie isn’t all bad, however. The reuniting of Neo and Trinity is great. Their pairing and feelings for each other is certainly a major component for the franchise’s success. There is also a well-done action sequence in the final act introduces a couple new tricks. Did this film need to be made? No. But it could introduce a new audience/generation to one of the great science-fiction masterpieces in movie history.
