Terrible product & customer technical support. I installed the system & required cables exactly as shown in the manual with upgraded premium audioquest & monster cables. During the initial setup during the sound equalization, the left front high speaker did not have sound. I rechecked the cable connections, interchanged the cables & connect to a different channel, the speaker worked, which means the receiver is not providing sound output to that specific channel. At first I didn't really care because I changed the set up from 5.1.2 to 5.1, thus didn't use the upper front left & right channels. About 2 weeks later, there was NO sound from the ARC HDMI when streaming via the TV, it worked totally fine for 2 weeks, then it suddenly died. I uploaded new software for the receiver and re-did the sound set up. During setup process, the receiver would freeze & flicker when it came to step 5 for the ARC setup. Then the\ sound in the other output channels (cab/sat, dvd) would then be intermitted or would automatically shut the receiver off. More problems then began to arise. I then called ONKYO customer support to register the product and attempt to get customer support. They said the serial number I provided for the receiver was not a valid number. They said there were too many zeros & letters in the serial number..... We then moved on to try and trouble shoot the receiver over the phone. They obviously could not repair the issue so I wanted to bring it to one of their repair facilities. They advised me against it and told me to just return it to Amazon for a refund. It really seemed like a great product, but obviously it was not. The customer support was not helpful, but they were honest- the HT-S7800 is obviously a terrible system.

2.0 de 5 estrellas I should have known better.

So I’ll preface this by saying that I had an Onkyo receiver for 10 years with my last theater setup. For that setup I had Polk speakers.

Because of this I looked to Onkyo when I decided to make the full jump to 4K and Dolby Atmos sound. I did a lot of research and there were a lot of people who screamed “don’t buy a full box setup! It’s garbage. After a while you’ll have to replace everything piece by piece”. I read other reviews from professional review websites that said things are different now, these one box solutions have come a long way and this is a great less expensive option.

Wellllll... first off. I can tell this receiver isn’t as great as my last Onkyo. I can hear odd clicks at times, the audio at times is sketchy. (Usually only with streaming services, but I expect better than that.) the sound itself isn’t even as impressive as my last setup and this is supposed to be the Atmos leap! I am running 4K disc tiles with Atmos tracks that sound “meh” at best.

On to the major problem. The one most people have with this system, the subwoofer. It didn’t work at all right out of the box. Ok maybe it did for 15 mins at a time. It just wasn’t what you could define as working.

I then struggled to get a hold of customer service. The phone was pointless, I had some luck on twitter but even that took 2 weeks of back and fourth to finally find a certified place to take it to. After a month the sub is “fixed”. I bring it home and it “works.” By works I mean it kicks in about 8 seconds after the bass in the show or song kicks in. Again. I don’t consider that “working” I paid good money I want it to work as close to flawlessly as possible. That’s a joke.

Which brings me to today. After having the subwoofer for only 2 months after being fixed, it doesn’t work AT ALL again. This isn’t a joke. It’s now dead again. Luckily, I never sold my Polk sub from my old setup and will be using that from now on. I wasted $900 that I could have out toward the theater setup I’ll eventually have to replace this novice junk with. I am sure the receiver will go in the future and I will start replacing speaker by speaker. Which is what I should have done in this instance from the very beginning.

But hey, I should have known better. You get what you pay for.

1.0 de 5 estrellas I'm a fool

It just died out on me in over 6 months. What happened? If the connection were bad then by default the speakers wouldn't displayed sound. By the way the system DOES NOT! I REPEAT DOES NOT OUTPUT DOLBY ATMOS! It allows it through other devices like your laptops or pcs or gaming devices that have it. But the system itself does NOT have it built in. Just incase like I did you bought it for that. The purchase information mislead me. The DTS:X(SOUND) is horrible 😫. My laptop Asus dts:x was authentic and deeply beautiful 😍 compared to this sound system. The dts x sound worse than the other sound inputs in the system. Many people said the system in a couple of months shut down on them. Now I'm one of those people 🙄. I'm soo disappointed 😞. It is better to buy a sound bar with subwoofer than a sound speaker system. Because it does not have so many wires to connect to and less connection problems will occur. Onkyo=DISGRACE!

4.0 de 5 estrellas Bluetooth for Apple products has issues at time.
Compra verificada
I bought this because of the great reviews it had. Everything worked great for a few months until the Bluetooth wouldn't connect to my Ipad. IPhone would connect and receiver wouldn't drop it when I tried to change to Ipad. After a few weeks of researching I found a update in April that Onkyo put out for the receiver. Did the update and had no problems changing between my Apple products playing music. In early June after not using the Bluetooth for a couple of weeks and an update on the phone and Ipad, the Ipad wouldn't connect but the phone did for a few days and now it won't connect. It has good sound for movies and music when it would connect which the music is important if you have friends coming over and not such a pain to keep having problems with when needed. Finally talked to a Onkyo support person who helped me out. I had already tried unplugging unit for 1 minute but he had me do it again along with re hard starting my Ipad and the Bluetooth started working again. Didn't think Bluetooth would be such a pain but it is for some reason on this unit.

1.0 de 5 estrellas Don’t buy it!!!

Good: Dolby Atmos is an easy to buy package
Bad: Everything else about it. Stupid me I opened it, threw away all the packaging. Then the subwoofer didn’t work when plugged in. Brand new it was broken. The warranty process is incredibly difficult so much so that I gave up and just plugged in my old subwoofer instead. The speakers sound mediocre minus the added Dolby atmos feeling with the extra speakers. The receiver is just terrible. It says it comes with Airplay but it’s just airplay audio so no video. It randomly switches inputs on its own. Not that often but enough for me to notice and wonder what the hell is happening. If I hadn’t blown all my money on this one I would already be buying another surround sound systemz

5.0 de 5 estrellas Awesome sound system for a great price!

So far so good. This system sounds so much better than my last one. Everything works as it should and it works great with Alexa as all the typical voice commands work perfectly on this unit.
The sound is top notch for a medium tier system. Though it is advertised as a 5.1.2 system it can easily convert to a 7.2 system. The two front speakers both have additional upwards facing speakers with extra connections and you can change those two speakers out for four speakers and move the height (surround sound) speakers up to the ceiling. Plus there is the added benefit of an additional amp connection.

This system is the best I have owned. It is about 3 1/2 years old now, and has held up 100%. It is loud, clear, and the subwoofer is great. The negative reviews are bogus. You have to know what you are doing when hooking up your entertainment center. This system rocks.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Great system. The center and front channels are great

Great system. The center and front channels are great. Ended up getting this at a pretty good price so I substituted rear speakers for in ceiling speakers. And I bought a Klipsh R-10SW for the sub. Sounds amazing. The receiver that it comes with is basically the Tx 656. It's a great receiver hopefully it will hold up with time. I tried the dual sub thing with the sub it comes with but it the onkyo sub got a little annoying when it clicked on and off. It needs a preset where it doesn't turn off so soon. It also seems like my Klipsch sub does way more work and turns on when it is supposed to. This thing hardly ever kicked on. Long story short. Great system, but you might want a different sub to purchase with it.

Edit: Now the onscreen menu doesn't work, only the quick menu does but you can't change all the settings this way.
And there is a very annoying 2-3 delay when starting and stopping video like pausing a movie. Have to keep rewinding to hear what was said.
Will never buy an Onkyo product again...

Sound quality is fair, not going to win any sound competitions. For the price I expected better especially since I was replacing a lower end decade old setup.
However, only after a couple months the main board failed causing no sound from any input or speakers. I was able to get video pass through fine but no audio.
Contacted onkyo and they had me do a reset but no luck. Told me I needed to take it in to a authorized service repair shop which was either over an hour drive away or pay to ship it to another state.
I opted for the drive since at least onkyo paid for the return shipping so I didn't have to drive back to pick it up again.
Well see how long it lasts this time but don't think I'll be buying an onkyo again any time soon.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Great Value:Sound Ratio!!

Sounds great! I have had bigger and badder theaters in the past, sure. But this does everything you could want it to, won't get you in trouble with neighbors and sounds great doing it. Take everyone's advice and order quality speaker wire, I don't know what Onkyo was thinking on that one lol. I moved into a high-rise apartment and it was time for an update too, no regrets at all especially for under a grand. Beats a sound bar, any day of the week. Would recommend to a friend :)
