Do not trust. The seller deliberately lied to me.
They took the front plastic cover off a "Smart Tag +" and out it on a lower model "Smart Tag".
They they put that in a "Smart Tag +" box and sent it to me
I know this because the tag only had the features of a "Smart Tag", and not the extra features of a "Smart Tag +" (when using the app).

My guess is they had a "Smart Tag", and then bought a "Smart Tag +". Then, in order to try and make more money (by pretending to sell a higher model) they did what I described above.

Spent an hour trying to get the "SmartThings Find" part of the application to work. Only to get a frustrating message "A network or server error occurred. Try again later." After researching the issue I finally find a small blurb on the Samsung support website the says "SmartThings Find is not compatible with Verizon devices." Really Samsung? You couldn't put this piece of information anywhere on the product page. I wouldn't have spent the extra money and just bought a Tile if I knew this was the case.

I'm gonna give credit where credit is due. This smart tag just saved me so much pain. I was doing delivery on my bike and someone stole it when i was inside shop. My alarm failed me my locked failed me but this tag was right with me. I was able to track the bike miles away to a train station and confront the person who stole it and retrieve it. without this piece of magic I would be crying tonight (Very expensive bike).
Every person with something thag can be stolen should have this tag.

So thank you, Samsung!

UPDATE!

Came back to get a new one, but price they raise the price from 29 to 39 dollars! Not a Good move samsung.

Most companies who ship a cr2032 battery with a device usually disconnects them by providing a piece of paper that sits between the battery and the contacts. Samsung is not one of those. My battery was 20% depleted when I received the tag (unopened box).

The instruction booklet says to associate the tag press the "a" button and an application will appear on your phone to setup the tag. I did that nothing happened. I have a galaxy note 20 ultra with all the latest updates including smartthings installed.

Tried to install smartthings find. I get network error. Samsung, if you don't want to invest properly in your servers why not just use the play store instead?

Couldn't get smarttag to work and I'm a techie.

Received this product on 4 May. Setup was very easy. The device battery status read fully charged. I connected to the tag this afternoon 7 May and the battery status read half charge. Reading on the Samsung site, the battery should last nearly a year. It's been 3 days and burned 1/2 the battery. I've only connected to the tag a few times. The tag works great and the app is easy to use the only problem is the battery life.
Update..14 May received low in the red battery status. I replaced the battery, fingers cross this on last more than 10 days.

Made a wrong assumption. It is integrated into SmartThings. You can install SmartThings on Android and iPhone. I assumed if a person has a Samsung account and can login and I allow them as a user, then all can see the same view regardless of the app being iPhone or Android. SmartTag/Tag+ locations appear on a map. The map is NOT available on the iPhone SmartThings app. Everything else is there. Understandably the iPhone cannot locate a SmartTag but the iPhone app should at least show me the last location as seen by a Samsung phone. So no more SmartTags for me. Similar problem with the Apple AirTag. Sharing and cross platform is important. I purchased Tile so locations can be shared on iPhone and Android. I don't like the idea of paying $29/year for the sharing capability but it's the only game in town.

SmartTag+ installed fine and worked at home. Gave the SmartTag+ to a friend and had them take it to their office which was about 20 minutes away, in a business park, probably surrounded by >50 Android mobile phones. Also, my friend has a new Samsung Galaxy phone which was less than 10' from the SmartTag+ all day. As soon as the SmartTag+ left my house I could no longer see it on the app/map. I don't think the Samsung SmartTag network works. Not for me anyway. The device is a dud.

I bought this device on March 29, 2022. Today (May 18, 2022 - about 45 days later) I got a notification saying my batter is almost dead (between 0% and 5%). This is INSANE considering the ad states it's a 6 month battery. I contacted Samsung customer support, and they tried the whole "No, the Amazon page says it can last UP TO 6 months"", which I promptly corrected them by showing them that the page clearly says it lasts 6 months.

I am not unreasonable, I could understand if it only lasted 4-5 months due to use conditions, but 45 days is totally unacceptable, and from the other reviews, I am far from the first person to have this issue.

On top of the battery issue, the "Search Nearby" function performs at a beta level at best. I can literally have my phone touching the tag, and it will say I am 3 feet away from it.

Samsung really needs to get their act together. They are one of the biggest tech companies in the world, they don't HAVE to cut corners or lie, but they do to make more money for their executives. Late stage capitalism at it's finest....
