Good unit for the price

Was very surprised at how well this system sounds. Great low bass with a nicely balanced sound profile throughout the range. Works well with my Sony television and controls all functions. A lot of negative reviews but I have not had a single glitch.

Considerations:
Buy adjustable mounts for the surround sound speakers. They are available on amazon for approx $10
Take the time to adjust the sound in the settings mode...it will be worth the time.
System works best with an HDMI and a optical connection, if your TV has one...the sound from my set-up is better than the price of the system...it shakes stuff off the walls upstairs.

Only neg is install was longer due to having to cut and resolder connections...but in the end it was well worth it.

sleep fuction wont stay off and resets all the time after i change it, i can't ever say this is a good purchase because you have to turn it on then wait about 1 min to 1:30 seconds till you can hear anything then after 5 mins of no sound it will turn it self off and if you use this for your computer and have a alarm on your computer this will make you late to work every time.... useless sound system but other then that it sounds okay but there are alot of sound systems for less that sound better.

Should be better than my Panasonic 750W system?

Like other reviewers mentioned, in the TV mode the sound is not as expected. I originally had a Panasonic 750W system and the DVD player stopped working. I looked at this for the price and 1000W and figured I would take a chance. I fine tuned all specifications for the room size (speaker distance from viewer) and decibel selection (I chose the highest of 6), and yet it does not perform as well as the 750W Panasonic. It was very easy to set up and did sync with my Sony 55 inch Flatty. The room where installed is 32 feet wide by 24 ft. deep, so it is a fairly good size room that is carpeted. I did the standard speaker set up and all speakers tested out and are working. I have yet to play a Blue Ray disk and will update once I do. Maybe my expectations were greater for this system.

So far this system has done everything I've wanted/needed and more, I love how easy it is to play music from my phone via bluetooth and how simple the home screen is to operate. But neither of those are the best part of this system, the best part is the sound (which is obviously most important) and this thing sounds good paying classical to rock to hip-hop. You can feel the lows as they reverberate around you with an indescribably great sound to them and the highs hit every note possible in a very crisp and clear way, gave me the shivers when I listened to the four seasons. Finally the build is solid with metal speaker covers and a fair weight to each of the speakers with the hq magnets in them and they all have a classy and new age look to them with the angling thing sony did with the speaker covers and bodies. All in all it was easy to set up, does everything I want + some, looks great while doing it, and sounds amazing.

This device does not perform well. The sound is not as full and powerful as advertising led me to believe. 1000 watts? How? The "Function" key won't change function half the time. The software (i.e. - Netflix processing, etc) is PAINFULLY slow - had to go through new Vizio TV which is much much faster.

Software on other functions (i.e., Bluetooth, just turning it on and off) also seems very slow. It's like a really old computer.

HDMI ARC function plays sound only in 1.5 second bursts. Just set it up. Plugged optical cable in and now it works correctly.

Overall, though, just so-so.

I did not want to buy Sony. I had another Sony device and it was problematic, but when it arrived I tested and the sound was good. I didn't pay too much attention as it was not used much. But I soon discovered it had similar issues. The Blueray goes off randomly. Nothing as fun as really getting into a movie and your BluRay stopping in the middle of it. Another issue is with Netflix. For whatever reason it loses your Netflix login information and the same is true of trying to log in to youtube. So you have to reenter your login information everything time you want to use. If there was one word to describe it, it would be random. If I could exchange it for something else, I would do it in heartbeat.

Although I am still getting used to this...I have to say that I am extremely satisfied with it. The sound is fantastic, but either I have configured it wrong, (the 1000 watt power) rating) is not there, However, not going to dis the device. I am loving the wi-fi features, when in the CD or music app's thats when I notice the increase in the Power and it is Great! You really can't go wrong buying this and I Highly recommend it. I have the unit connected to my Home Network and it's phenomenal to say the least. Have it connected to a Vizio 4K 55 inch TV and the remote works with it fine. Still in the learning curve but most problems are usually user generated. Can hardly wait for my Sony 4K/3D unit. Just like the old school commerical said, "Sony no Baloney"!

We needed a sound system for our new Condo which would give us decent sound at a budget price. This fits the bill nicely. This is an attractive compact system with pretty good sound for the dollar. We didn't need something that knocks pictures off the wall and this unit has plenty of volume for our medium sized great room. I love the wi-fi capability and am still in the process of learning all of the possibilities this unit offers. Set up was easy, instructions have been pretty good. Only thing I really dislike in the fact that the speakers are pre-wired and there are miles of excess wire which is sort of clumsy to deal with. Once again, if you want a decent system for $250.00 this is a great choice. If your an audiophile looking for top of the line sound it obviously isn't.

I have had great speaker systems in the past, but I wanted something that wasn't as powerful out of respect for my neighbors. This system is not the most powerful in the world, but quite adequate for my room. I have the rear speakers behind my sofa, and it makes all the difference in sound quality. I tried the speakers aligned in front, and it was disappointing.
The Blu-ray player is awesome. It picks up the movies that I have on my computer and plays them on my TV! It picks up the songs from my bluetooth phone and plays them through the speakers! It also picks up Amazon movies, Netflix, and just about any other internet-based video delivery system. (Not Roku) It has more features than I will ever use.
I gave it 5 stars because it has surpassed my expectations for the price.

Great sound and quality. I gave it low stars since it doesn't have hdmi inputs. For the money this is unacceptable really and it is too late to change my mind. I did purchase an audio extractor to fix my problem however. Now all output that is sent to my projector can get extracted in 5.1 and sent via spdif to the tv input of this device. Search for J-Tech Digital ® Premium Quality 1080P HDMI To HDMI + Audio (SPDIF + RCA Stereo) Audio Extractor Converter if you're in the same situation I'm in. In addition, this doesn't come with HBO GO and other cool apps that I have on pretty much every other device I own. There is no way to install from sony store.
