Out of box sound bar worked, out of box wireless subwoofer does not connect and is stuck trying to pair. Called TCL support and they determined it is a faulty subwoofer. Will be returning not exchanging. Piece of junk don't buy

1.0 de 5 estrellas Changing rating to one star. Horrible product.
Tamaño: Alto 9+ 3.1 channel w/ wireless subCompra verificada
Updating my review. Previously gave it 3 stars, have to change it to 1. Have had nothing but problems with this thing since day one. Started off with the sound being out of sync. Even using a TCL 65R635 TV the sound is out of sync. The audio is delayed by up to 300ms at times.

TCL released a software update, version 2.9, which I was promised would fix the audio sync issue. Well, not only did it not fix the audio sync issue but it essentially broke the soundbar. It now randomly locks up, fails to respond, the volume stops working, and it causes the screen to go black when using an Apple TV 4K. TCL has confirmed that the problems are being caused by the new firmware but apparently there is no way to restore it to the previous firmware. The soundbar is now effectively broken.

The TCL TV I'm using, which as of the date I'm writing this is their flagship 65" model, is also full of problems including its own audio sync issues which TCL also promised me would be fixed with the TV's newest firmware update. No surprise that that didn't happen either.

When I turn everything on in the morning I have to disconnect all the devices attached to the TV, go into the TV's settings and delete all the HDMI ports, then reconnect the devices and restart them, reconfigure the HDMI ports, reconfigure all the picture settings for the various inputs, and if I'm lucky, everything will work and I won't have to do it again a second time. But if I change inputs or streaming devices, the soundbar will freeze and stop responding to any changes including volume and I'll have to do it all over again. And any time I turn the TV off, I have to go through all of that again next time I turn it on.

TCL makes TVs with great picture quality and soundbars with good sound but the software and hardware completely suck. Great picture quality and sound are useless if the products simply don't work, the sound is out of sync, and the soundbar freezes and stops responding.

I will be avoiding their products in the future.

::edit 4/19/21:: Last I spoke with TCL support was early last week. Their rep let me know they were working on a fix for the problems caused by the new firmware. They even sent me a new soundbar but it had the new firmware already on it and was plagued by the same exact problems. I've since emailed them three times but have not received a reply. It seems they have decided that since they can't fix the problem, they are just going to ignore me and hope I go away. In my last email to them I politely asked them to facilitate a full refund for the price I paid since even via warranty support (sending me another one), they can't fix the problems. I don't care how much less expensive TCL is than other brands, I will never buy another TCL product again. I'd rather spend twice as much for another brand that's only 10% better than spend another dime on a TCL product.

I've since bought a more expensive LG soundbar with full 5.1 and real Atmos (upfiring speakers) for only $50 more and it blows the TCL out of the water.

1.0 de 5 estrellas WARNING! THIS TCL Alto 6+ IS A NON-RETURNABLE ITEM BY AMAZON!
Tamaño: Alto 6+ 2.1 channel w/ wireless subCompra verificada
"Non-Returnable Item"
IF YOU BUY THIS, MAKE SURE YOU 100% WILL NEVER WANT TO RETURN IT BACK TO AMAZON BECAUSE THIS ITEM IS "NON-RETURNABLE"!!!! Their reasoning for not allowing returns is because it contains "hazardous materials", magnets... every speaker has magnets!!!! The policy makes little sense to me and is listed NOWHERE on the item listing page, nor was it during checkout, nor is it in my order confirmation email. I spent HOURS trying to resolve this with Amazon, while still well within the 30 day return period, the only reason they'd give me was the "hazardous materials" line, then I was hung up on. If you don't want to go through this and or don't care about returning the item, then buy it. Otherwise go test it out in store somewhere so you KNOW you want it, before you buy it.

Item details:
This item did not meet my needs, the wireless subwoofer cuts in and out frequently, even when I moved it closer to the soundbar (were talking max 3 feet away before it starts to have problems cutting in and out. There is also NO mid-range sound, so if you are used to TCL TVs, you should be used to the tinny sound that comes out of them, so maybe you won't care. This soundbar is the same, but they added a subwoofer to make up for it but they didn't fix the midrange in the speakers so it sounds cheap. I thought I'd give TCL a chance after seeing them thrive in the TV market, their items are definitely "budget" items and unfortunately their sound quality is seriously lacking.

My recommendation for a better soundbar... VIZIO! What a difference, I purchased TWO after being blown away by the performance for the value. I got a Vizio 5.1 SB3651N-H6, with a wireless subwoofer which the rear speakers also plug into, so you don't have to run wires under rugs or carpets. I am serious, the Vizio is easily worth double or triple the cost of this TCL, but it's only $50 more. Take my advice and go with the Vizio. I'm so glad I did.

1.0 de 5 estrellas The Devil is in the Subwoofer
Tamaño: Alto 6+ 2.1 channel w/ wireless subCompra verificada
So I was not expecting it to be a movie theater experience but this is ridiculous. The subwoofer just does not work. It’s terrible! You can’t tell it’s even there until you find out that your unit is indeed possessed. Then all hell literally breaks loose. I was sitting watching TV with the dogs and all of the sudden my no sound subwoofer came to life at top volume, shaking the walls, and with the worst distortion. It sounded like a demon trying to escape. The only way to make it stop is to unplug the subwoofer. Called tech support and the lady who answered was of zero help, plenty nice, but zero help. She had me pressing all sorts of buttons and was getting annoyed that the steps she had me going through weren’t getting the results they should. She then contacted TCL. The gentleman who helped me, once transferred, was laughing in hysterics at the things that the last tech support person had me doing as they weren’t even troubleshooting steps for that model or any other model of TCL. He had me do a factory reset and said it would fix the problem. I asked what would happen if it didn’t and I basically ended up just getting tossed back and forth having everyone say it was the other company’s problem. Amazon ended up refunding thankfully. But alas I have no sound bar now. It’s a shame because we love our TCL television.

1.0 de 5 estrellas No better than TV built-in speakers
Tamaño: Alto 6+ 2.1 channel w/ wireless subCompra verificada
I have a 50" TCL 4K TV, I thought this TCL soundbar would integrate well with the TV. However the soundbar speakers sound no better than the TV built-in speakers. The soundbar does have a sub-woofer, but it's so anemic, you can't tell if it's on. That is perhaps a good thing since half the time the bluetooth subwoofer isn't on. There is an orange light on the subwoofer. If it's off, then certainly the subwoofer is off. If it's on, then maybe the subwoofer is on, or maybe not. The only way you can tell is to feel the subwoofer speaker. If it vibrates it must be on. There is buton marked 'link'. Pressing it, causes the orange light to blick. Nothing else. It will blink forever without connecting. The way to get the subwoofer to re-link it to unplug it and then plug it in again, this usually (but not always) works. There is no volume control for the subwoofer, but the remote has three choices for equalization: movies, TV and music. Those buttons make no noticeable difference in the sound. Another annoyance of the ARC connected TCL speakers is that without the soundbar, the volume control works as you'd expect by moving by one volume step with with each press of the volume control, or moving smoothly up or down if you hold the volume cotrol button. With the soundbar the volume moves 5 volume steps with each press of the volume control; but there is a delay, so if you hold the volume control it moves beyond the volume you've released the button at. An annoyance to be sure. All-in-all, don't waste your money on this soundbar.

1.0 de 5 estrellas Stay away from this great sounding sound bar.
Tamaño: Alto 9+ 3.1 channel w/ wireless subCompra verificada
Let me say this up front, the sound that comes out of this is excellent.
So why shouldn't you buy it?

1.) The bar is plagued with A/V Sync issues.
-I have this set up with a TCL TV with the following connected:
--Nintendo Switch (HDMI 2)
--Google TV (Chromecast) (HDMI 3)
--Playstation 5 (Via HDMI port on ALTO 9+ then linked to HDMI 1)
-The only place I don't have sync issues is the PS5 which is directly connected to the sound bar.
-The other three items, the Switch, the Google TV, and the Smart Apps built into the tv all have A/V Sync issues. TCL's support is a joke and they will constantly tell you to power everything off and back on as this will "eliminate most sync issues"

2.) Subwoofer will randomly unpair.
-There isn't a "manual" way to re-pair despite what TCL support/website states.
-The only reliable way to get this thing to work is to physically unplug the power cords on both the soundbar and the subwoofer for about 2-4 minutes, then plug them back in and power on and pray it works. (This works about 75% of the time).

If I am not using the PS5 on this thing, I usually spend more time trying to get it to work than listening to it.

Tamaño: Alto 6+ 2.1 channel w/ wireless subCompra verificada
The sound will stop clipping mids and highs in the sub once a day and had to be reset. It will overload the subwoofer randomly and make it so loud it sounds like an earthquake. We have to power it off and back on again. I have a tcl tv and you would think this wouldn't be a problem. It started on the first week of owning it and I thought it was something wrong with other devices trying to take over so we ran all bluetooth off in the house except for this unit so we could watch a movie with out this happening. And an hour into the movie I had to reset the box.

Tamaño: Alto 6+ 2.1 channel w/ wireless subCompra verificada
DONT GET THIS SOUNDBAR!

TRASH CL Alto 6+ 2.1

After a month of use.

1. The Subwoofer is quiet... too quiet.

2. Once, the soundbar sound started coming out of the subwoofer and the subwoofer sound started coming out of the soundbar. Not sure what happened. Disconnected and connected them and went back to normal. (CONTINUES HAPPENING. IM READY TO THROW IT IN THE TRASH AND TAKE MY LOSS)

3. I said, the subwoofer "sometimes" disconnects from the soundbar. Turns out its been doing this every time.

The sound is decent (from the soundbar) for the price when it works but pay the extra cash for a worthy soundbar and the peace of mind of not having to disconnect/connect power cords to sync the soundbar and subwoofer. The subwoofer is clearly malfunctioning. TLC Help was no use.

1.0 de 5 estrellas My NEW TCL TV's remote will not Adjust Sound Bar's Volume !!! Requires Using 2 Remotes for Life !!!
I really like my new TCL 43S435 Roku TV, BUT I also purchased a TCL Sound Bar thinking it would be "compatible." Little did I know that the TV's remote would not adjust the sound bar's volume !!! I confirmed this major convenience with a call to TCL tech support and was told that this is true because the sound bar does not have a HDMI port and I need to purchase a more expensive TCL sound bar to solve this problem (if I don't want to use two separate remotes for life). IN ADDITION, when I placed the sound bar under the TV, the TV's remote would not work at all because the sound bar blocks the TV's remote signal sensor. I raised the TV with wood blocks around 1 inch and solved this problem. Good design engineers could have made the TV's legs an inch higher to solve this for TCL customers. I still like the TV but am very irritated about these design problems.
