These pads are great for the corner areas, just make sure to let expand all the way and take shape. I used the water technique to make sure they took shape. They work really well.

Budget Friendly Bass Traps.

This is my initial review for the TRUE NORTH Bass Traps w/Adhesive 8 Pack and I'll continue updating it as I use it.

I spent some time searching and going through many different budget friendly bass traps packs, and I finally landed on this one, it's very high quality and amazing thickness, and I don't have any problems with it, unlike my old bass traps they where more expensive and been cut imperfectly, some sides are flat some are not, and they had a lot of foam waste attached to them, and they didn't puff on the edges so they where very inconsistent but with this one it doesn't have any of these issues and half the price they do treat the room bass acoustics and they get the job done.

Using FL Studio, I didn't find any echoing or problems with my voice or my bass guitar While I'm talking or singing into the mic and I have my headphones on I can literally hear only my voice so perfectly clean and clear, even swallowing and my lips smacking where clear and audible, which I was blown away, before I used to get horrible echoing.

The bass traps is very high quality and I like that it comes in 2 inch thickness 8 pack, it's just everything you need to start singing or streaming or even doing a podcast or YouTube without the need of expensive bass traps acoustic room treatments.

Overall, it's a very high quality budget friendly bass traps, and I highly recommend it.

Acoustic treatment is necessary for most dedicated listening rooms and especially home offices. Foam base traps are just one of a number of such treatments that can work together to reduce echoes, reverb and reflections. You can use your preferred search engine to view convincing videos about how and whether base traps work. I believe they do, especially in recording (conference rooms) and critical listening areas. So the question you are probably asking is whether you should purchase this phenomenally low-priced product (8 base traps for ~$34) or pay the same amount to Monoprice (or similar companies) for only 2 base traps? I can't answer that for you, but I can provide some facts.

First, the traps I received were exactly as advertised (12x6x6). However, that is over 20% smaller than the Monoprice (12x7x7). Might this affect the sound? I do not know. The current product suggests their noise reduction coefficient is around 1.25 in the mid lower frequencies. This is clearly incorrect because a value of 0 means no sound is reduced, whereas as value of 1 means ALL SOUND is reduced. A value of 1.35 is impossible.

Monoprice provides a number of 30% at around the same frequencies. I suspect that is 0.3, which is about the same sound reduction as heavy drapes or heavy carpet. The 1.25 number surely means 0.125? In which case, the user, for instance, will be deciding whether to purchase 12 of these base traps at 1/3 of the rating of the Monoprice traps vs 2 Monoprice traps having less than 3 times the coefficient. And who knows if the advertised values by either company are correct?

Overall, I would say these traps are mostly as advertised, and a very economical way to cover the 4 corners of a home office or 'zoom' studio. Critical listeners might be better off saving up their funds for a more dense or larger traps.

Pros- Quickly regain shape. Size as advertised
Cons- the coefficient of 1.25 is silly, and not possible according to the currently accepted laws of physics

The finishing touch for my studio

I have a rather extensive home recording studio, in which I literally have hundreds of the “classic” 12”x12” variety of acoustic foam tiles installed.

However, bending them into the 4 corners of the room doesn’t handle sound dampening in those areas very well, and they’re an eyesore to boot.

Like all foam tiles I’ve ever purchased, these are packaged in vacuum-packed bags to save space in the warehouse and during shipping:

- Some that I’ve received in the past didn’t expand at all, requiring soaking them in water then waiting about 2 days to completely dry out, since they’re basically giant sponges.

- Unlike those, although also highly compressed, when unpacked these sprung to full-size nearly instantly. Wow, extremely surprising! In my opinion, this indicates the foam is high quality and very resilient.

In addition, the job of cutting and trimming on these tiles is absolutely flawless.

Here’s a few tips on installing acoustic tiles which I hope may help you out:

- Obviously, I’m performing permanent installations since I have a dedicated studio, so I use Gorilla construction adhesive in a caulking gun.

One small dollop at each corner and one in the middle is all it takes, and I guarantee they’ll never come off the wall until you purposely remove them. I’ve previously tried double-sided foam tape, but definitely do not recommend that as tiles begin detaching in short order. The latter simply does not adhere well to foam tiles.

- If temporarily installing them (perhaps in a rental), I recommend using “T” pins. They securely hold tiles, yet are easy to remove and leave just tiny pinholes behind.

In the end, they look great and most importantly solved my corner sound dampening issues perfectly. Although a bit more pricey than regular acoustic tiles, in my case they're certainly worth it. I’m absolutely delighted and couldn’t be more satisfied with this product.
