Definitely a good beginner set up. I’ve had an old Sony receiver from circuit city. First time for modern surround and digital everything. I definitely researched this unit before purchasing. Very helpful. I set it up as virtual cinema because I don’t have the space. It still surrounded me. Awesome. Clean sound and great bass that is not over powering but you know it’s there. Big difference with a sub you can power rather than regular house speakers. Don’t be intimidated by the owners manual. USE IT! There is a lot of great things this unit can do. One page at a time. It walked me through very very well. I have everything set up. Gaming, and cable box run through receiver. Oh not to mention my 4K everything looked and sounded 100% better going through the receiver rather than plugging to back of tv.

5.1 Surround at It’s Finest!

I have been looking for a well built home theater system. I wanted something that was at least 5.1 and gave me an immersive experience. I bought this set and bought 16 gauge wiring. I put the satellite speakers on the ceiling, hid the wires inside my attic, and dropped them on the back side of my tv.
This comes with 12 gauge wire but 16 gauge works so much better.
The sound is phenomenal! I have never turned it up full blast because it is very loud. The subwoofer gives very low bass. When you watch something with 5.1, it sounds like its coming from every direction!
I am very impressed with this system. It gives me exactly what I’ve been searching for.

So dissatisfied and disappointed with this! It was such a waste of time getting it hardwired onto the wall, only to have receiver break twice(fuse goes out and causes a Non stop clicking noise).. we had it replaced the first time but are just going to try a better sound system because it’s obvious this brand is garbage. I was really disappointed with Amazon too for the limited options they provided to have this fixed!

This system is definitely better than I thought it would be. I waited until I was able to watch a movie to write this review and it is very good. I was slightly apprehensive about buying it being it was fairly inexpensive but it is worth more than the money. I paid to have wiring put in during construction my home so I wanted a traditional surround sound system. It has exceeded my expectations. My only problem is Yamaha doesn’t have a tech support to call in. Set up was fairly simple however, the directions are pretty much useless. I would buy again. I highly recommend this product.

Honestly didn’t think it was gonna be much when I opened it up and saw small light weight speakers.
But boy listen, when I put some NF rap music on just to test it out, my house bout shook apart and the structural integrity of my foundation was compromised. So yea it was definitely the best 500 bucks I’ve ever spent on a sound system. And don’t even get me started when I actually put on a movie. 👌🏻😩

Setup instructions could be a better, or actually included. Google for instructions. I have a few components like xbox, Apple TV, and blueray player connected directly to the receiver, I also have my smart TV set up to send the audio from streaming services like Netflix and prime tv through to the receiver. Setup for devices connected directly to the receiver is farely straight forward, however setting up the tv to send audio to the receiver was a little more tricky. Once done though, my TV remote is capable of controlling the audio of the receiver. As to the sound of the unit, I am no audiophile, however it sounds pretty good to me for watching live shows and movies. I would purchase again if I needed another receiver combo.

Love the wired system - absolutely no Bluetooth audio distortion from compression or electrical interference. Exceptional bass, woofer set at mid range and crossover set per manufacturers recommendation. Used the included microphone for easy set up, then tweaked ever so slightly for perfection. Can't rant enough about the system, so I'm minimizing it. I'd do it all over again. Plenty loud enough for our 20x18 entertainment room, seldom go above -15 db.

This is an Excellent Surround Sound System. You can raise, and lower the Volume of each speaker, and the Subwoofer. It also has a Microphone that you plug into the front of the unit, to measure the distance of the speakers in the room, so you get the best sound quality. The Front, and Rear Speakers are the same size. I purchase (2) Floor Speakers to use instead of the speakers that come with the system. The sound, and sound options are awesome. It took a little while for me to get it Dialed In to my liking, but once I did it was amazing. This is an Excellent System for the Money. I Highly recommend this System.

This amplifier tuner works and sounds great as it should but this isn't my first Yamaha. I feel it should come with better speaker. The 4 smaller speakers are pretty light and the sound will break up when you turn the volume up. Normally Yamaha comes with way better speakers. The sub work excellent its just the other speakers. They sound great at low to mid volume but can't handle much higher volumes. I'm planning on switching them to bose when I find the right deal. The amp can run the and the sound quality it puts out is good just isn't matched to the amp properly.

It has great sound I've found that over time if you eliminate the center speaker you get a better surround sound and more bass. It has a ton of presets or you can do custom settings that will confuse the hell out of you. I'm still learning what it can do. This is replacing a 20 year old Bose lifestyle system and while it is no Bose it a good system at 1/5 the price.
