It is punitively expensive, far more even than the others, which I doubt is justifiable, unless the materials have become markedly more expensive over the years. The difference was not nearly so big, when they first came onto the market. This does spoil it, putting it into the showoff arena, instead of the purely beautiful and technically wonderful, where it really belongs. I love these pens, their design, their efficiency and their beautiful colours. I wish the makers would try to make them available to more people, rather than fewer.

Love my space pens. Brought my first one many many years ago and still have it. I find them very easy to write with. I have arthritis in my hands so some of the larger/chunkier pens are hard to hold. I find these are just right. Always write clean, no smudges and writes on anything. Only downsides - black ink so always have to buy a blue refill (large pile black ink refills going to waste) and I have had several that have walked off in other people's pockets, amazing how difficult it is to get them back). Like this one as it's so distinctive I can see immediately if unauthorized use is happening and can therefore head off a potential dissappearance. My only quibble is the price as it gets expensive if you have a relative/coworker with itchy fingers. Used to only be brass but now I have a few nice colours as well, one to match every mood!!!!

Fisher Bullet - it's a timeless design classic isn't it (the bullet shape was first designed by Paul Fisher in 1946), and the space pen refil is incredibly reliable and will write every time you need it to, hence these are so popular as an edc pen. This rainbow version is quite pricey (but not compared to many other pens) but looks absolutely gorgeous and gives me pleasure every time I use it so is worth it to me. The fisher space pen is definitely not (by a long way) the nicest pen to write with but as a super tough, super reliable very compact always ready to write tool it's fantastic. Nice. Treat yersen.

First impressions on opening the box were "This is TINY". The multi-coloured 'bullet' that you see before you is roughly 9cm long and less than 1cm in diameter at its widest point. When you remove the cover for the 'nib' section and put it on the far end, this extends the pen's length to a more manageable 13.5cm (approx.). The strengths of this pen are in its 'portability' (it'll go anywhere), the quality of its writing (VERY smooth) and its unique colours that are bound to be a talking point whenever you bring it out. Its weaknesses are, conversely, its size: that very slim metal shell might have you reaching for a plastic or rubber covered pen of about twice the thickness much of the time. Secondly, the fact that the pen has no pocket clip means that you're going to spend a lot of time looking for it. I'd recommend this as a gift for the man or woman who has everything.

A thing of beauty and not at all bad as a writing device either :). Not my first Space Pen as I've owned one or more, I have two others at the moment, since they were first released and this one lives up to the quality I expect from Fisher with the added beauty of the lacquer finish.

Lovely Pen, I personally think the Rainbow finish is brilliant & of course paid extra for it. Would have liked a 'pocket-clip' within the price but only a minor point. I have already bought 3 other refills of different colours, which I use for other work I do.

I received a faulty one and the following replacement after it was faulty as well, in that the coating wasn't applied too well. Finally got sent a third one and this one is great, as Fisher should be, thankyou very much. Quite some mix up with the returns and communications, but got there in the end. They tried their best I think! I'd give 5 stars for the pen and 3 for the overall experience

This is a beautiful pen. However, the first one (given as a gift), malfunctioned within a week - the seal wouldn't work to keep the lid on. So far replacement is good, but I did read in a previous review that this could be a problem. Such a shame. I hope my new pen can keep its lid on.
