My daughter and I play snare drum in the Royal British Legion. We both would play on the real drum all the time if this was a realistic possibility. We are told to practice, practice, practice on the pad instead. This pad is a great option as it is obviously quiet compared to a real drum, but the plate containing ball bearings underneath gives a little more of the authentic snare drum sound.A gimmick I know, but I'm a glutton for quirks. It is a rubber face,so the rebound from the pad is a little more realistic too.Do you need the carry handle? Not really but why not? Very happy with the purchase.May have to buy another if we fight over the one pad.
I love this practice pad! I use to compete on a state level in a drumline and our sponsor gave us practice pads with the snare drum sound. I've been getting back into playing recently and was struggling to find a practice pad with the snare effect. If you're in a similar situation, look no further. This practice pad is amazing! Not only does it have the snare effect, but the stick rebound is amazing too!
Great design idea but poor execution. The practice surface is not quiet compared to other gum rubber or silicone pads. Very little rebound; firmer than the Vibram sole of a shoe with similar rebound. This pad falls short compared to the original, early generation Xymox snare sound practice pad (Ahead uses the Xymox patented snare sound system) that were made with textured gun rubber.
Watery snare sound at best, snare only works in one area, little to no rebound, and I couldn't take off the snare plate even if I wanted to because the bolts on it were messed up. You can buy a pad like a tap off MINI for the same price, now that is a pad
