I use Windows 10 and this version of Dragon is not designed or adapted for Windows 10. Dragon 13 has been adapted for Windows 10 users. Major applause for those mysterious Microsoft "behind the scenes" people or robots (who really knows?) though. They found a fix for the sound driver I use, and after a few attempts it's working just fine. That was very much appreciated. As for the program, well, I've only just started with it. It's for a project I am working on which wants to use speech. Right now I am about 20 times faster on the keyboard than on the microphone. I can see that it could be very handy for people who dictate or have a reason for not wanting to use a keyboard. The more I use it, the more accurately it transcribes my voice. That is an expectation of the program. I'll make friends with the "Dragon", not sure I'm there yet. Very curious about it though!

I know they warn you about this, but the slow speed that I needed to speak turned me off... plus, even spending a fair bit of time training, it still makes too many mistakes for my needs. I didn't have the patience to keep using it... might give it a try again at a later date though.

Ordered the headset that was offered on the same page. It isn't needed as the software comes with a headset. Also you will have to find an attachment for the headset to work with most computers.

With all that I have to say about Dragon, I hope it can keep up, as I'm using it to write this review. There are many gleaming reviews of this software program, though fluent users tend to complain about newer versions each time one comes out. This implies that each newer version is more difficult or less accurate than the previous one. That being said, Nuance, is the same voice recognition software company behind your friend Siri, so either they're doing something right, or they kissed where it counts. I use this program a lot, mostly for writing emails, creating to do lists, and writing Amazon reviews (JK) and it seems hit or miss. I have done extensive training to make it more accurate, and set customizable controls to allow them to recognize my voice more distinctly and more smoothly. Ultimately, I don't feel it's as good as it should be. It seems randomly not to heed my voice, intended corrections, or enunciation – which after the specified training I've done – is extremely irritating. It might take me a few minutes to dictate several hundred words, but then 10 minutes to correct all the mistakes it makes. Theoretically, it gets better and learns from your style the longer you use it – I'm two years in and still dissatisfied. For me, a software program like this is a necessity so I continue to use it. For others, professionals or those dictating for business purposes, I can only imagine the frustration. If you're on the fence about this program, do yourself a favor and buy a previous version for less money. It'll give you a good idea of what the program is about, it's controls, commands and aptitudes, and you won't have to fork over as much as you would for the newest version.

So far I am still typing more than I am using the Dragon software. So far I get several mistakes when dictating...the wrong word will pop up. I was hoping I could use this more because I suffer from Arthritis. Other people say they like it. I'm certainly glad I didn't pay the advertised $99.00 for the newest software if this is all the better it works. The microphone is really touchy..you have to get it positioned in just the right spot. The plugs that plug in for the headphones sometimes don't seem to work that well. I have to jiggle the plug to clear up the sound or sometimes I don't get any sound until I jiggle the plug. So far this is not the easy software like they advertise on TV but then so much of the advertising these days is over rated or bogus. It was nice I got one day free shipping on this order because the other thing is it's confusing the way Amazon has it listed. It says unknown platform for this software which not sure what that means and I couldn't really get an adequate answer when I called customer service. No need really to order a headphone/microphone set with this as one comes included in the box. It will take a lot of working with this software to maybe get it to a point where I can just sit and dictate what I am writing. As far as correcting errors...I found it easier just to turn off the microphone and manually make corrections. So far I'm fairly disappointed with the software but I'll keep trying.

I have used Dragon Naturally Speaking Premium for many years in my work. While I enjoy dictating rather than typing, I find that Dragon can be very frustrating to use. It never makes a spelling error so prof reading has to be meticulous because when dragon mis-recognizes a word, which it does far more frequently that the touted 99% accuracy would suggest, it types a real word which may not be what you said. Do to the need for frequent corrections and the detailed proof-reading, I believe that an accurate typist could work faster than someone dictating. It is certainly not 3 times faster than typing when all is considered. I also found that the microphone included with the Premium package was cheap and mine broke so that I could not wear it the first or second day. I bought one for $50 and it has served me well for several years. Dragon makes a lot of typo's when a word sounds much like another such as "a" for "the", "an" for "and", "is" for "his" and on and on. It also misses sounds when the ending sound of a word is the same as the beginning sound of the next word such as when a word ends in "s" and the next word begins with an "s". I started with version 8 and was using version 12 until recently. I did not find that accuracy improved version to version despite claims of better accuracy. In fact it seemed to me that it may have dropped off, perhaps in a attempt to speed up performance. I would rate Dragon as OK (three stars) but it definitely has its drawbacks. In the later years, I saw that Dragon completely missed text I had dictated and sometimes typed fairly bizarre text not really related to what I had intended. Don't expect miracles.

had to use a third party offsite online help costing me 99.00 to install this part was this program hogs a lot of memory so before you install keep your start up programs to the minimum you can get. there is a work around in getting this to run on windows 7 this was found out by my tech help talking to nuance customer service. im using windows 7 premium 64 bit . im still trying to get use to the commands. im hoping that my perlla apa formatting help will be working along side of this. As a soon to be graduate student in upcoming year i will be doing loads of writing and research papers. id recommend this but suggest those who are using wind 7 ak a third party to install.it was worth the 99.00 in that during the call he made with nuance he was placed on hold and also had to deal with overseas accents. so we are not alone in this problem of customer care. the online help haha . i could of bought the student edition but with the issues and long wait to get the proper code, this was better option in spite of costing me another 100

I gave it three stars because when it works it works very good.

It gets stuck from writing the words and voice commands for some reason it does this you have to closer program save the profile and then reopen it and then it will work I tried everything and he gets stuck on it says ,say that again, say that again, say that again.

Once you reopen it it works again the voice commands the dictation works. I am using this right now and it's working fine and it's very sensitive.

So if they fix this one problem with talking into the mic with dictation I would give it more stars but for now it only gets three stars because it does work.

You have to close it reopened this takes about two minutes so all in all three stars.
