I work from home and after injuring myself with bad posture I needed to start typing a lot less. I had heard about this product and decided to try it. Aside from free dictation software online, this was my first experience with speech recognition software. Thankfully Dragon is a lot better! I like how it adapts to my voice and my way of speaking. I've had it for about two weeks, and I'm already able to write more and faster than before. Overall I would definitely recommend it.

Some minor problems: I still have to make a correction or two in every paragraph, so I can't talk at normal speed. It slows down my computer, especially when it updates my user profile. Sometimes it will misinterpret commands and type them out instead. It works much better in Microsoft Word than in other applications - so I write emails in Word, then copy them into the browser. It won't seem to allow me to add one space automatically after a period, only two.

I use Windows 10 and this version of Dragon is not designed or adapted for Windows 10. Dragon 13 has been adapted for Windows 10 users. Major applause for those mysterious Microsoft "behind the scenes" people or robots (who really knows?) though. They found a fix for the sound driver I use, and after a few attempts it's working just fine. That was very much appreciated. As for the program, well, I've only just started with it. It's for a project I am working on which wants to use speech. Right now I am about 20 times faster on the keyboard than on the microphone. I can see that it could be very handy for people who dictate or have a reason for not wanting to use a keyboard. The more I use it, the more accurately it transcribes my voice. That is an expectation of the program. I'll make friends with the "Dragon", not sure I'm there yet. Very curious about it though!

Installing is impossible!!! Out of the box following the autorun commands I received "Error 1155; File D:\Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12.msi not found" then proceeding to install from the Windows Installer Package I received another error "Error 1311.Source file not found: D:\ENGGen~1.cab. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it." I checked and it is on the DVD and it opens as a ZIP file, which does not help me at all!! I then copied the DVD to my (C:) drive as per instruction on answers board and still am receiving this error. I have been searching Nuance's website for answers and it appears it is very common for Windows 7 Professional 64-bit users, but Nuance has not solved this issue...

I repeatedly had difficulty in installing this product despite several calls to Nuance (they distribute the Dragon Naturally Speaking product.) They even sent me a new CD/DVD to replace the original which I had purchased through Amazon.ca. No luck. I was finally able to install the product but then it disabled my keyboard. Try as I might, I couldn't use my keyboard after having installed Naturally Speaking. I did want to use voice commands to access my computer and the internet, but I did not want to give up my keyboard in the process. Therefore, I un-installed Dragon Naturally Speaking and have put it up for sale on a local web site. I have read several other user reviews and it seems that there are numerous glitches with this product that need attention from the developers. If and when they do address these problems, I may reconsider this product as the benefits are numerous. But until then.

I had heard about this program over the last year or so with a friend who is blind and he absolutely loves it. I thought since i have arthritis in my hands badly that i would be able to save all that typing as i am online a lot and write a lot of letters - emails etc. It has been wonderful so far and i have only used it twice... getting used to it very much. Not many people kknow about it and it should be advertised much more...I am passing it around to others... as we age it works out to really help us stay in contact on a regular basis.

It took a bit of getting the program trained for my voice, but what a time saver! As long as you remember to say 'period' and 'new paragraph', and a few other commands, this works well. Still having a few problems, but I'm getting better at anticipating and speaking to train the program.

I didn't use the mike and earphones that came with it, so can't comment on that.

Excellent product but you really have to take the time to train both the software and the user. Once that's done, this software really flies. Excellent for students with dyslexia and/or dysgraphia. Do a WEB search for Dilbert training for Dragon. We found it very helpful and enjoyable too.

I use speech recognition a lot as i have severe nerve damage in my hands. This version ( 12.5 updated ) Works great where I use it a lot...in Tinychat rooms. It types directly into the chat bar without problems. I did buy Dragon 13, and it would not work for me as I wanted, so I returned it without any problems to Nuance.

I know they warn you about this, but the slow speed that I needed to speak turned me off... plus, even spending a fair bit of time training, it still makes too many mistakes for my needs. I didn't have the patience to keep using it... might give it a try again at a later date though.
