You really need a good microphone with this. Without a good one, you will not have a smooth experience. It helps with composing emails, writing in apps and documents. With some learning, you won't need to do any typing. Most of the time, I use the voice recognition function in google documents for typing within google documents which is good enough for me and it's free.
We were not able to use this. The program requested us to enter a special code. In order to get the code we were required to fill out some forms showing proof that we were students or teachers in school program. The company would not take the software back, even though we had not loaded the software. We did not know we could not load it until we opened the software box. We spent $80.00 and can not use it OR return it.
Having had experience with the original Dragon Systems software in 2003, the new version now owned by Nuance did not disappoint. I use the system primarily as an editing tool with the Read That function and it performs well. One quirk I find interesting; it doesn't recognize the ? as an end of line character when enclosed in a double quote. If it was to read the following line as an example, "Where did you go last night?" it would not pause at the ? to denote the end of line. But if you leave the ending double quote off, it will.
Needs some improvement on voice recognition. But I believe that they've heard that before. Takes time to learn the commands but once you do it saves on typing and you get school papers done in a snap with a little minor editing .
Dragon is a great product. It worked well with little or no voice training. Learning the navigation commands takes some time. Also, I have tried to translate a voice file from a digital voice recorder. It did remarkably well. It will do the job for me well. If I could only think clearly as fast as it can transcribe then it would be even better. But that's an operator issue.
