Dude al principio vs varios modelos en el mercado. Es super sencillo de usar, tambien conectarlo a la PC. Lo que ,as me inquietó son los cartuchos, si bien son caros, lo entendi por la calidad de la etiqueta. Si requieres hacer una inversión es buena opcion, en mi caso lo compre para etiquetar el material escolar de mis dos hijos y mis dos sobrinos, si solo deseas etiquetar de forma temporal, busca otra impresora más accesible. Imprime varias lineas de buena calidad, puedes ajustar los tamaños, el corte, crear códigos de barras, Qr, etc. Lo recomiendo ampliamente.

El aticulo en general es bueno y funcional a excepcion del pequeño detalle que cada vez que comienza a imprimir desperdicia cierta cantidad de cinta (3 a 4 cms) que si tu necesidad es imprimir diferentes etiquetas de manera independiente a la larga al cantidad de cinta desperdiciada es considerable lo que podría representar un 20% de desperdicio de acuerdo a mi experiencia y si consideramos que los cartuchos de cinta no son nada baratos, es por ello que no le doy 5 estrellas

Bought this to to make it easier to put things away and stay organized in that black hole we call the garage. My daughter got excited and dove right in to use it. She loved the fact that there were frames and cool pictures you could use. When I learned how to use it, I was really disappointed by the variety of pictures available. Nothing for goggles, gloves, flashlights/light bulbs (other than a little light bulb symbol). It seemed a little outmoded. And there are 99 frame options, and scrolling through them is cumbersome since there are no categories. The manual has a legend, and you can type in a number to get to the picture, but it is so tiny to see in the book!!

Switching between tape sizes seemed to confuse the machine at times. It claimed an 18 point font was too big for .47" tape, which I know is not because I'd already done it.

I got curious about the PC connection and went through some very un-slick steps to download the software and printer driver. The application is not intuitive to use and did not open up a whole new world of icons or frames as I had hoped. You get more from emojis on a cell phone. I don't see why it would not be possible to use Internet symbols/characters. I will see if I can make that happen. I was really hoping for a clean, consistent look for all of my labels, along with relevant pictures, but am having a hard time accomplishing that.

I do like that you can use different font sizes per line. Nice for disclaimers like standard vs. small base for light bulbs.

Of course the best feature is the ability to plug it in vs. using a ton of batteries. Although my mom told me to just keep the batteries in the box with the device, my family always seems to pilfer and you can never find enough batteries to do anything. I did see a cheaper one at the Container Store that had a case with a battery section that was well rated, but it doesn't have center alignment like this one does. That was important to me so that all of my labels could be the same length (which was occasionally problematic and I wasted quite a few labels on the learning curve).

And the big mystery question: why is it required to have a 1/2" feed cut off before every single label is printed?? I set to narrow margins (I was not confident with chain printing with 3" centered labels) to reduce the waste as much as possible, but I am at a loss about the need for that strange feature. I know all label makers have this waste problem. It just seems so unnecessary.

It did what I wanted it to do, but it required me installing the drivers/software on my computer.

It appears that only the most basic label making tasks can be performed using the build in interface.

All the people saying the screen sucks it looks like rainbows don't realize there is a second removable film on the display causing the interference pattern. That being said, its still a cheap display, but it doesn't look nearly as awful as some of the review photos.

Lastly, if you go too small on the text using the computer software, the results begin to look a lot like dot matrix font (the individual "pixels" are larger than the detailed features).

I used some generic P-Touch compatible white on clear laminated tape for a project on my car, and I am happy with the results.

A great product but not a great company behind it. This label printer is easy to set up and use. I downloaded their free software and used it with a Windows 10 computer. The software is easy to use. The labels it produces are high quality.

Finding their software and the drivers for the PTD600 on their website is a total pain. They make it all but impossible to find the right software for the device. And as everyone else has noted, the printer is set up out of the box to make sure users waste as much expensive label tape as possible so they can sell the consumables.

OK, I get it, this is the razor blade business model. Sell the printer at a low price and make the profit off the consumables. But Brother is really brazen about it. They deliver the printer with default setups designed to waste label material.

They do provide settings that will eliminate waste but you are required to dig around and experiment to stop the horrible default setup. That nullifies the simple and easy to use machine and software. I just want some quick high quality labels. I don't want to become an expert on a label maker. It's not information I want crammed into my brain or time I want to waste learning.

But if you don't mind wasting money on label cartridges, this thing is fast and easy to use and it produces a wide range of high quality labels that stick well and hold up to modest amounts of water and other stuff they may encounter around the home.

Poor instructions out of the box

Got this to organize papers by filing everything away with, hopefully, nice labels. Unit looks nice and comes with a small manual. I think one of the most important first steps is to install the cartridge. And the tiny, difficult to read manual, says "avoid the print head," but it does not show you what it is talking about. Downloaded the PDF manual, which at least you can enlarge, but it also more or less jumps over this step. So, right off the bat, first attempted use, the cartridge becomes jammed and the labelmaker says no cartridge installed. Lot so many bad companies, I went to YouTube to get support. There one is greeted with many videos about how to painstakingly pry apart, rewind, cut, and fix screwed up Brother cartridges. For the price you pay for this consumable, this is not acceptable. It ought to be really difficult to not install the cartridge correctly and the manual should be super clear about it. But YouTube indicates otherwise. Disgusted with this.

If you have a lot of old-style TZ tapes like I do, be aware they will NOT work in this unit. It requires TZe tapes. The manual is hard to read, half of it is written in a foreign language, and it has serious mistakes. User support is a joke, don't waste your time on the "help" website. Brother tapes are very expensive but luckily you can get reasonably priced aftermarket tapes. This item has a LOT of capabilities but unless you use it every day and become familiar with it, you will find yourself wasting a lot of tape trying to get a label right. Not recommended for occasional use. Unless you really need all the features of this one, buy something simpler.

Great label maker but not easy to hold

This device accepts tapes up to 1" wide, which is enough to print legible address labels. The wedge-shaped keypad is so thick however, that I have difficulty wrapping my palms around it while typing and feel that it's always at risk of slipping out of my hands. It's also heavy for its size after 6 AA batteries are installed. An attachment for a wrist strap would've been a nice addition. The printed text is clear and even though I feed it aftermarket tapes, it still functions perfectly. It has a color LCD screen and a powered cutter, neither of which is essential, but are nice to have at this price. The one feature that alleviates the keypad thickness situation is that this device can be tethered to a PC via USB. Unfortunately, LAN or WiFi are not supported, a missed opportunity to use it like a remote printer. Like many Brother products, it's good enough and practical, but I wouldn't pay full price for it.

The label maker itself is fine. Works well and prints clearly. The UI isn’t very good but workable.

The PC software is horrible. I finally just gave up. The firmware update didn’t work for me.

But I got this thing for such a deal (cheaper than a smaller Brother model I’ve had for years) that I’m not going to be too critical. But if you are paying at or near full price, I’d look elsewhere.

Bought this very expensive printer for the sole purpose of organizing my massive LEGO collection using downloaded images. It was tricky to set up, and then the very first roll of printing tape got jammed and was ruined immediately. The instructions were non existent on how to install it- or where it was supposed to feed. I do not consider myself a stupid person, but watching this get wrapped around and twisted was infuriating. After swearing at it for longer than I like to admit, we ended up cutting the tape and yanking it out of the machine.

We did get it working after opening up a new box of tape, however dropping it in you need to be very careful about where it feeds!

Lastly, the tape is good for one stick- if you need to peel and re stick it won’t last as I sadly found out.

This is a great idea to allow label printing from a PC!! Kudos to Brother. However, the supplied USB cable is only 3' long. To sell this product for PC connectivity, Amazon should provide links to purchase longer cables with the proper USB adapter identified on the device side. In this case, it's USB Mini-B. You're welcome in advance.
