I wanted to get a midi controller that's really small that easily can be put away and doesn't take much desk space since the only midi control I have is a full 88 keyboard from Roland.
I am glad I got this over other brands despite the higher price cause I love the build quality of this. It's easy to install and use and I really love the overall slick design.
One downside is that the key action isn't that good for more sensitive vst instruments (e.g. Ivory Piano that has 20 levels of dynamic) cause this keyboard would input randomly too loud / too soft notes.
It's hard to explain but don't expect this to feel like fully weighted digital pianos. The keys do feel like toy piano keys (springy).
Other than that, the keys are good enough to easily input notes and beats.
Very sturdy, well built controller. Basic use is almost as simple as plug n play, but figuring out how to get the knobs to interface with my DAW and its various synths was not intuitive or easy (using Reaper here), and there is not a lot of good documentation out there for this device. So the first couple days of use were frustrating. But, I was eventually able to figure it out, and the thing is like a little tank compared to most MIDI controllers in this price range, really a beautiful and solid little piece of equipment. The keys feel just right, not too tense or loose. Touch responsiveness is about what you’d expect — no deep nuanced subtlety, but ok for basic quiet/middle/loud variations on notes during play. Overall I’m pleased with my choice and would purchase from Arturia again. (The device comes with some kind of synth software; it’s okay but it is a neutered “lite” version of the real thing and an upsell for their software packages, I didn’t bother with it much.)
I haven't got this thing completely figured out yet but it is good quality for the price, including the keys. I do like the plug-in play nature of it but there is a learning curve with the Ableton Live Lite. So far, so good, and I would buy this again.
