I read a bunch of reviews before making this purchase and I'm scratching my head after having opened this item. Two words, "Fisher Price". For those of you who do not know what that means, search it. I believe they are a TOY manufacturer. This surround sound system, if you could even call it that, is a toy. The speakers have no mounting holes or attachments, the flimsy "speaker wire" comes out of a tiny hole in the back of each speaker, so it's not even removable to add REAL speaker wire, and they are made of what looks like press wood. I purchased the item used to see if the reviews could possibly be accurate and to save a few dollars. Not only was this a waste of my time and money, they did not even have the courtesy to CLEAN the thing up first before shipping it out to a new customer. It was disgusting, with dust and what looked like food finger prints all over it. (that one is on Amazon, not the person who returned it, although, I can't imagine how someone could return something in such condition and be okay with it. I guess some people just don't care and have no shame). And, then we have the condition the item is in,... Scratches, on some of the speaker cones, corners mashed in like it was dropped, and corner seems that look like they were glued together by someone who had their eyes closed while doing so. The wires were wound around each speaker carelessly and stuffed back in the original damaged box with the crumbling styrofoam and bits of it stuck to the speakers. And then there is the sound quality... After having attempted to place the speaker far enough away in the proper locations for a true surround sound, I had to climb over the wires that were like a boobytrap across my living room because they are so short, plugged everything in and turned it on. There was not much of a difference from the TV speakers to the "surround sound" system. Weak. Waste of time and money. Suffice it to say, I will be returning this horrible device after having thoroughly cleaned it, (you're welcome Amazon), and I think my days of shopping for this type of device on Amazon are over. On to Costco...
So i but this on amazon, based on other reviews and stars and such.. and rarely do i get something where i feel duped, but there's a first time for everything. So here you go Acoustic Audio 5.liar. I get this delivered, unpack, the thing looks great. Take pictures and share with a friend or two. Ive never owned a 5.1 speaker system of any kind. So I get it all out of the wrapping, and undo each twisty tie. I was measuring how far away I can put them. So i find 3 speakers have a shorter cable, so look first ;) . I get them all placed, i plug it in, fire it up by flipping the switch on the back of the sub woofer. I hear it hum a little, thinking.. YES! I read the manual, go through the remote steps.. and ive got independent control of the rears, fronts, and center, SUPER YES! I pair it up with bluetooth, turn on an old Karnivool album and start going around my speakers. Its sounding meaty! and then i had my Led Zeppelin moment. I have the thought "how about i open up adobe audition and really test out the 5.1~ness of the new deployed beauty! (adobe audition is adobe's version of Pro tools for audio mixing and mastering). I've never made a 5.1 mix before, but heh, how about that.. a 2:30 second video called "Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound In Adobe Audition CC".. followed by " wow, its really that easy?". Go through the steps, my track is made, its 5.1 i know how to pan the sound around.. and like a balloon losing air, the realization of what i bought started. I panned around and i realized, i had no back speakers. Weird. .. try something else, nothing, play something i knew was in 5.1 to test it. " huh, it didnt hear it move around speaker to speaker. Definitely not in a circle. Something isnt right." I start approaching it from a technical. " i wonder about this bluetooth adapter? This system doesnt have optical input, so is it 5.1 ONLY over bluetooth?" I jog over to amazon like i usually do, and look up my usb -> bluetooth adapter. I got this one pretty cheap, so it could be a likely suspect. I gaze upon my "Kinivo BTD-400 USB Bluetooth Adapter for PC" and i see "4.0". Could there be a 5.1 blueooth or something? I'm sure amazon can tell me. clack clack into the search bar and i find bluetooth 5.0 but no 5.1. A dead end? well wait a minute. Google - tell me - "true surround sound over bluetooth". And like a baby bird being kicked out of the mothers nest, i got a boot right to the rear! "Bluetooth won't support 5.1. Just stereo. Then your receiver has to emulate 5.1." That's my silver bullet. Thats whats going on. I have independent volume control of REARS / FRONTS / CENTER / SUB. But im not getting REAL 5.1 surround. The Hindenburg crashes to the ground, its over, they got me. I got duped. I immediately start my return process, and it hit me. " wait, it SAID 5.1 right?" I look back," huh, it totally says 5.1. But thats not true. How can you sell a 5.1 surround sound bluetooth item when its NOT 5.1!" Its a stereo signal to the device. Not 5.1. its 2.0!
I'm returning via Kohls (which is super easy btw amazon, smart move) and stop looking for a bluetooth solution for 5.1 ITS NOT POSSIBLE! The title is completely false. Really it should be.
"Acoustic Audio AA5171 2.0 /(emulated 5.1) Surround Sound Bluetooth Home Entertainment System"
At first I was super excited to get this hooked up to my computer. That's where the problems start. First there are no cables to make this connect to a 5.1 sound card on a computer. That's fine, my fault for not looking at the product enough. Next there is only 1 RCA cable, not 2 like it says in the description. Now the 5.1 doesn't work at all, even though you can switch to that setting. So I bought an adapter to be able to use the cables from my last speakers to hopefully make the surround work. Unfortunately, even with it the most I get is 2 speakers with bass running through them and 1 other speaker with a tiny bit of sound. If you want these for consoles or for surround on TV these would be good. The sound quality from the speakers that do work are excellent, but it sucks when only 2 of them work. The remote control is easy to use and extremely useful. As for volume control, it can get loud. But due to all the issues I have with it working is why I mark it down overall.
Bought these speakers for my computer for music and video games and movies and porn and what have you. The quality of the 4 speakers that work and the subwoofer is surprisingly good, but the left front speaker arrived non-functional. At loud volumes, you can hear a slight tinny white noise sound from the speaker, but that's it. Tried it plugged into different ports and other devices and still the same, so the speaker itself came broken. It seems like all of the 5 speakers are the exact same, so I swapped it out with the central speaker, but since it's surround sound, I'm missing out on a lot.
The volume has no buffer between quiet and loud. We don't have close neighbors, but even at volume level 01, it seems like it would be obnoxiously loud for them in an apartment or something.
Either way, I can't recommend a product that's only 5/6 functional.
Arrived it unworking condition. 3 of the 5 speakers sound blown very scratchy and un useable. Huge bummer tryed everything bluetooth tv ect all have the same affect 2 of the 5 speakers work great. Would not buy.
Don't buy whatever u do sound sucks then it worked for maybe a day with crap sound and then low turned all the way up and barely any sound comes out broken crap and box got thrown out not I paid for 1 day broken junk dont buy this ever. U are getting sold broken stuff.
I bought these on 15 Dec 2021. If you are buying this, consider following. 1- Coutineous metallic sound, tic tic tic tic tic 2- Sound quality isnt good, specially Bass. 3- always get connected to blutooth of my neighbour's phone, i never got connected and Im still using usb 4: a lot of wires 5: and you get what you pay for. :-(
You get what you pay for....its cheap, confusing, doesn't pair to your TV and doesn't sound great at all. I'd return it but the window for my return has closed... they give you less than a month so if you do decide to purchase this, which I highly recommend you Don't, make sure you test it out immediately so you can get your money back which I know you'll want.
