I guess anyone who would order these has enough electrical savvy or intelligence to look at them before use, because they are pretty cheap, after all.
The Phillips screws have continuity with the plug and are NOT recessed into the plastic banana plug. They protrude from the plug If these were clipped to High Voltage, and you reached to move the meter and accidentally contacted this protruding screw with a finger or thumb, you could get “lit up” really good.
The fix is simple, A few turns of red electrical tape wrapped around the banana plug. Wrap the black lead with black tape for good measure.
Just sayin’. They’ll work, but they’ll need the tape

The resistance on these leads is probably more than necessary.

Let me preface that I'm a garage electronics tech with some industry background. I tested these leads on an Innova 3320 multi-meter.

I checked the MM with some straight probe leads, 0.0-0.1 ohm. They probable need cleaning. Then I tested each of the 3 pairs of hook leads. All 3 measured 1.4-1.6 ohms. One pair has a malfunctioning hook, I'll mess with that.

For the price, I expect to get what I pay for. This is just to let folks know to test your leads before testing equipment. I'll mess with these some to see if I can improve them. Otherwise, I'll add an ohm and a half to the readings I get on equipment. It may not matter for most of what I do anyway.

Maybe the mfg'r should have larger or better quality wire? The pack of 22ga. alligator jumpers I bought in the same order show 0.0-0.1 ohm resistence.

Just a heads up, folks...

Trying to use for testing continuity and noticed that touching the leads together SELDOM triggered the meter. If you wiggle the banana plug, it worked.

After taking them apart: the way the wire is connected to the banana plug is by a screw that presses against the wire, piercing the insulation and holding the wire in place. Trouble is, the screw is threaded in plastic and the threads are stripped.

End result, the screw doesn't pierce the insultation of the wire, or I should say, it barely does.

At any rate, don't waste your money. These leads are absolute junk. I got 3 pair, all were bad.

These test leads have about 1.3 ohms resistance (total, positive lead connected to negative lead). I was using them with a power supply on a 5V, 1A load and the voltage drop was one volt, enough so the device didn't work. I wasted way too much time puzzling over the problem and thinking it was my power supply's fault (I was measuring the voltage at the end of the test leads instead or at the power supply's output terminals. Yeah, I know: rookie mistake.)

The specs on these leads say they're rated for 5A but they don't say the wire gauge. Based on the voltage drop it must be around 30 AWG. From now on I'm buying 20 AWG or better.

These fit perfectly into the test probe sockets of my Innova 3320 Auto-Ranging Digital Multimeter . The wires are a little thinner than I would prefer, which results in around 1.6 Ω of resistance. The test leads which came with my Multimeter show no resistance when I touch them together. This isn't a deal-breaker for me, just important to keep in mind. I think I would prefer heavier wire in a single-pack for the same price rather than a three-pack of thinner ones. Still, these do the job nicely and grab on to whatever I'm measuring without me having to keep a steady hand on it. That's really convenient.

I'm torn on the rating for this one because I would like to give it 4.5 stars. It is a better value than many other comparable items. Just looking through the search results I can see this is the same design as what is available in a single-pack for about the same price. I'm glad I picked this one.

Hooked testing leads are very useful. I do like it has 36 inch length cable. But the problem is this product lacking of the quality control. I got 2 out of the 3 cables were defected. One set the black hook can not move at all, another one the hook not move out and retract smoothly. Another problem is banana plug is very sensitive to any movement which will affect the test results, the problem is the set screw only has contact a few electric wire strands. (see picture). Of course the metal set screw is safety concern when you deal with high voltage/current situation. I did get the replacement and Amazon shipped them next day.

These are suitable for passing signals, not so much for power, as the conductors are fairly thin and you will experience a noticeable voltage drop.

Except for the one bad clip that I received, I would have given this 5 stars. Unfortunately, one of the clips would bind and would not close on its own until I took a precision knife to trim off a little bit of plastic.

These clips are fine for low-power general purpose use. The contact metal is thinner/softer, and the build quality falls shy in comparison to Pomona connectors. But you're also not paying Pomona prices.

The electrical tabs were not quite all alike.. Some opened as they should.. Others did not open quite enough.. I got 2 sets functional.. The third will sit until I feel the urge to annoy myself by spending time with tiny tools again, to make the last set work properly.. Which I will not do, until I need them.. I may have just gotten 2 (of the 3) bad sets.. It does happen with inexpensive, tiny replacement items.. But... I still feel they were worth the price.. Just wish 'quality control' was a bit more attentive to fine details, in this product.
