The sound quality is great. My friends say the difference between this mic compared to my Hyper X Cloud 2 headset mic on discord is incredible. I have also noticed the difference just on tests in voice recorder / audacity too.
For the money this mic is so close to being perfect but I do have a couple gripes.
1) You need a pop filter. I read reviews which say the same thing and I thought "well it can't be that bad". Well.. unfortunately it is. Any 'P' is instantly popping and causing the mic to distort. This is fine if you are further away from the mic but then you need to increase the gain which in turn increases background noise and lowers the quality. A pop filter fixes this (can get a decent one for £7 on amazon).
2) It feels cheap. The quality of the mic soundwise is fantastic. The look and feel of the mic is like you've just taken it out of a kinder egg. It's certainly not something you would show off!
There are plenty of reviews on YouTube and other places that say this is the best condenser microphone under £50. It could well be - I haven't tested any others. The sound quality from it is very good and there is little noise from the mic itself (easily removed using noise reduction in your audio software - I use Audacity which is free).
Be warned though the microphone is very sensitive. Sitting in a room at the back of the house, with all the doors shut, the mic can pick up the noise of a dog barking out front in the street - or a lorry passing, or pretty much anything above a whisper several rooms away. If you are going to buy the mic for home use then this might be a problem - as it is for me trying to record audio for educational material. You are probably going to need sound-proofing of some sort. Perhaps I should have bought a dynamic mic which is less sensitive.
The microphone is dead-easy to set up - just plug the USB into a Windows 10 computer and you are ready to go. Get a pop filter for it too.
It is a very good microphone for the price provided you can avoid extraneous noise.
UPDATE: I've now been using this microphone for six weeks to record video. The sound quality of the recording is very good - nice and clear and crip - and there is no microphone hiss. My only problem with it is that it is very sensitive and picks up other noises very easily. It can pick up a dog barking outside or a heavy vehicle passing; it even picks up the sound of a tap being run downstairs; and it seems to pick up the noise of me moving about in my chair (I didn't think I made a noise but this mic picks the muffled sound of movement). For me this is a problem because it makes my audio sound amateurish. When I can afford it I am going to move to a dynamic microphone which should be less sensitive to extraneous noise.
This not a 'mini' microphone, as described! Looked huge and clunky next to my small and neat computer. There were no proper technical specs in the product description, so I took a chance. Recording quality poor. Even after spending ages tinkering in computer with sound levels, then mic position, and so on, my voice sounded thin and flat.
I previously had a £24 microphone which resulted in frustratingly inaccurate results, e.g. when using the Email Dictation extension in Gmail. This microphone is well worth the extra cost as it saves me time and frustration.
