These guys are not authorized to sell this product, so warranty and service may be a challenge. ELAC Product is EXCELLENT, but this guys are questionable. Buy this product from an authorized source. Looks like Secured Order is trying to take your money without any service after the fact. ELAC is great though. Very bad customer experience because of Secured Order!!!

After reading the hype about how these speakers compare with speakers double the price, I was intrigued.. So, I did what any scientist would do, is set them up in competition with speakers of various prices.

Here's my set up. Big amp (Sony ES line pre-amp, speaker switch box, and the list of speakers: B&W DM602s1, B&W DM600s3, NHT ClassicThree, Micca Club 3 (modified with XO, and a passive radiator) and our infamous Elac's. This was set up as a blind test to my audience of 3 people (2 musician, and a non-technical wife). I gave them random numbers through various stages (so that the audience wouldn't keep memory of the speakers through various musical passages). And had them listen to various types of music. Piano, trio jazz, classical orchestra, live rock concert, studio rock/pop, electronica/pop.

The Elacs came out last, and they almost became a joke by the end of session. Because the blind number for the speakers would change, but the listeners INSTANTLY recognized them with any music. By the end of the night it became apparent that the cabinets on those were singing their own thumpy tune that was a very characteristic signature with any music. It was especially noticeable with complex signals (lots of instruments covering a lot of spectrum, like classical orchestra), with pop and electronic it was less of a problem. Overall, in comparison to all other speakers, it was noticeable that instead of the instrument sound, it was becoming the Elac sound; which is never a good thing. The coloration was just way worse than I expected. On the plus side, they have great bass, and nice high extension, and the midrange is there. The spectrum is there and is pretty impressive, so I'm not surprised that people like them. Not much else I can say; now I need to go disassemble my test setup in the living room before my wife hands me divorce papers.

After switching out amplifiers, triple checking the wiring, adding a sub, auditioning different inputs, adjusting EQ...all these steps to make sure it wasn't me I have to conclude that these speakers are garbage. I'm sorry to say that. Wasn't expecting a miracle but you'd hope they were better than your $30 bluetooth speaker, especially as the certainly LOOK like a quality product.

The response across the spectrum is weak. You don't expect booming bass from a speaker this size but you should be able to expect a decent representation of bass. High end not awful but if you dial in a little treble for definition you're in icepick territory. But the main issue is distorted mids. There's a lack of presence at lower volume which distorts as you turn it up.

My mistake was waiting too long trying to make adjustments. Now I'm stuck with these duds. LOOK ELSEWHERE.

Not sure why so many of them like these things. All the singers seems to be singing from the restroom nearby when I was listening from the room straight in front of my face. I thought they might come back and join me in the room after they take the dump (do they call it break in? lol). Hours went by... a week went by... a month went by. They never came back to join me in the room.

As a comparison I listen to KEF Q150, Q350, B&W 606 S2, Q Acoustics 3020i and all of them sound fantastic listening from the same position except for these speakers.

May be it was a good value at 150 but now they are more than 300 and there are better options available at that price point.

ELAC speakers are fine. I am using these as surround sound speakers and they deliver full range, even sound. I enjoy listening at both low and higher volume too. The reason for the lower rating is Amazon's service. It was very poor on this and my previous order for speakers. Amazon sent an open box containing returned, used speakers. The box even contained the returning woman's information summary. They didn't even check the items enough to remove that. That's quite an invasion of another person's privacy -- VERRY INAPPROPRIATE! I paid for new speakers and they sent me used merchandise. Thanks Amazon!

The sound comes out muffled, like in a tunnel. Voices are barely audible. Do yourself a favor and invest a little more $$$ for a better quality sound system. Don’t understand the hype. Great PR hack!

These speakers are very tinny and do not have a full immersive sound. Although very tempting at a lower price than most speakers, i would recommend spending more money on better quality speakers—especially if you want to use for music.
