I previously wrote a lengthy subjective review condemning the Elac's but deleted it in favor of this more objective review.
My subjective opinion remains, I find the Elacs a bit harsh in the upper mid-range, especially with electric guitar. In my open living area with reflective surfaces the effect is almost unbearable, but in my acoustically treated home theater the sound is much more subdued and can be fixed nicely with a bit of equalization in the 3000kHz to 8000kHz range. Compared to my Pioneer BS22LR's (blue trace) the Elacs (orange) definitely show a 2db to 4db lift in this range, thus giving a more forward and sometimes harsh sound. It is interesting that the Elacs start to fall off in the high frequencies over 10kHz, which probably acts to accentuate the few extra db between 3k to 8k. Another reviewer commented that they sound dull and flat. I prefer to say that they lack high end "sparkle". In my previous review I noted that the Elacs definitely have a more solid low end than the Pioneers which tests out at a 35Hz extension compared to 60Hz in my room. I also noted that the efficiency of both speakers seemed to be surprisingly similar, given that the Pioneer has a 4" driver and the Elac has a 6". The graph shows that the two have nearly identical output. I did not stress test to see how they hang together under high volume.
As I commented on the graph the effect of room reflections wreak havoc below 600Hz so don't read anything into the bumps and valleys, though it is interesting that the Pioneers were more affected sitting in exactly the same location as the Elacs. One other thing to note is that the scale on the graph is a very tight 2db which magnifies any deviations.
I hope this review with actual measurements is useful and puts my subjective opinion into perspective.

I bought these speakers to replace some very old speakers Leak 2030 . The Leak 2030 had bean a great speakers for many years but finally the wore out and started to make crackling noises. I not sure yet as I have only have had The Elac b6.2 a few days they are almost as good

4.0 de 5 estrellas clarity and transparency - is it a good thing?
Revisado en Australia el 1 de noviembre de 2020

First delivery - I was stunned. This item had to be delivered from California, yet even with Covid-19 etc it was in Melbourne 2 days after I ordered it. Well, it did take another week to get from Melbourne to my PO Box in NW Tasmania but even so delivered well within the promised time frame.

As to the speakers themselves, haven't had much chance to really listen yet but can confirm that they don't add much (if anything) to the input they get. I'm currently using a new Marantz CD player (detailed, clear, etc) an a 40 year old Luxman amp, which tends to be on a bit on the warm side for current taste - and that is exactly what I hear through the Elacs. Clarity, detail, plenty of space and a warm, even slightly fuzzy bass. I'm looking forward to swapping amps for my much newer Denon to see what difference that makes. Anyway, if you've got a half-way decent sound source then I'd recommend these, but maybe not if your source is an MP3 streaming app. For bookshelf speakers they are quite big, and seem to prefer a little bit of space between the wall and the back of the speaker, so that is something to bear in mind

4.0 de 5 estrellas Fantastic low cost near field/desktop monitors for music and movies
Revisado en Canadá el 3 de diciembre de 2018

I am using the Elac's in a 2.1 setup with a 12" Klipsch subwoofer. I have it toed in about 3 feet away sitting on my desk. My Chromebook plays Flac files and streams music and movies from Netflix, YouTube, etc... It is connected to my Emotiva Stealth DC-1 DAC/Headphone Amp/Preamplifier and to my A-100 desktop power amp which is rated 50 wpc @ 8 Ohms. The Elac's are rated 6 Ohms, so it's probably pushing somewhere around 65 wpc. You do NOT need any more power for near field listening and can easily fill a small room with quality sound.

Listening to just the Elacs without the sub, I was surprised by the level of detail. It was similar to my HiFiMan HE-560's. The headphones have a brighter, slightly more detailed treble and a deeper stronger bass; whereas, the Elac's have a little more detail in mid range. The treble is sparkly but yet smooth and pleasant, especially for longer listening sessions. Where the Elacs really shine is the sound stage. Properly recorded stereo sound has precise imaging and depth. I was originally thinking I needed a center channel for movies, but I can tell you it is NOT required. Voices appear right behind the person speaking on my laptop screen. What is a little weird is that the voices appear much deeper than my screen. Your brain gets used to it though. It is as if there was a centre channel but with added depth.

So do you really need a sub with the Elac's??? The Debut 6.2 on it's own has accurate, tight bass but it only goes down so far and so loud. For the vast majority of music out there, particularly older commercial music, it would be fine on its own. If you are like me (My main HT system has a 15" sub) and you appreciate hearing DEEP LOUD bass, then yes you need a sub, especially for action movies. Lana Del Rey's "Love" Official Music Video, is a good example of current music with strong bass lines. The deep bottom end is missing from the Elac's on their own but can be brought out with a decent sub.

Bottom line...great sounding, low cost speaker. Minus one star on the sound quality for the lean bass.

4.0 de 5 estrellas not as I was looking forward to Updated!

I thought this was a speaker better than the budget Pioneer SP BS22 LR but in my opinion it is not after a month of listening. The top end is unnatural and thin sounding, vocals have the paper- like quality although the mids and mid bass are defined yet something still missing, feels restrained. It’s not a lively speaker, meaning it does not bring life to the instruments and melodies to what it should be capable of being well praised. With or without the grills sound exiting from it is seems flat, no dimension or sense of eagerness even at high volumes. Could be my NAD and Yamaha amp pairing but I will try with other amplification soon but initial feeling is underwhelming and rather disappointing, listening to Gregory Porter, Pat Metheny, Melody Gardot, Hiroshima etc sounded better from the humble pioneers.
UPDATE:
After regular use with all types of music, I could say there sonic characteristic has been improving. Muffled voices are more transparent now and bass is tighter. Beginning to enjoy it more now as I was thinking of replacing it with another. Will live it I guess for more time ... more improved to it's max as it ages I hope. Up to 4-stars now.

4.0 de 5 estrellas A detailed sound, but not really fun
Revisado en Australia el 30 de enero de 2021

I'm not an audiophile, in the sense that I don't have experience with many expensive audio systems. But I do listen to music and go to concerts regularly. I have been testing the ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 for about month, pairing it with a NAD C328. These are my observations.
Strengths. It does an excellent job bringing string instruments and vocals to life, particularly acoustic guitars. Those who likes folk music, country, jazz, and vocals, will enjoy these speakers very much. Slow pop music, such as Celine Dion, is very well executed by these speakers too. Overall, the speakers sounds clear and I can actually notice sounds that were invisible to me before.
Weaknesses. Well, dance music, such as Salsa, or Rock music don't sound engaging. Part of the reason I think is that middle frequencies are quite forward, while high and low frequencies are more layback. Sometimes it gives the impression that the speakers become overwhelmed with songs that are heavily packed.
Conclusion. If you like relaxing and listening to slow/soft/acoustic/jazzy music, these speakers will impress you. If you like to dance and through a party with them, look somewhere else. Also takes into account that these speakers are manufactured in China. Somehow I had the impression they were made in Germany, which actually plays a role on my decision to buy them.

4.0 de 5 estrellas GREAT VALUE (Revised Review)
Revisado en Canadá el 13 de diciembre de 2018
Estilo: ParCompra verificada
These speakers are a tremendous value, particularly when discounted. The sound quality is pure and balanced. The bass is deep and plentiful, treble and midrange are clean and clear, not exceedingly bright as others have mentioned. They play very loud without distorting. They are solid, heavy and look very nice, especially with grilles and tweeter covers removed. Obvious attention has been paid to the quality of the drivers and crossover. These are large speakers - not really bookshelf size, more like stand-mounters - they are almost as deep as they are tall. I have them placed on a pair of "Mount-It" glass and aluminum stands (Amazon ASIN B00QFZ5BSA) and it looks as if they were designed for each other - virtually a perfect fit. You can probably get by without a subwoofer in a small to medium sized room. My rec room is quite large with a concrete floor covered in thick carpet so I have them paired with a small 100W 8" Paradigm subwoofer, an older (and powerful) NAD receiver, a Harman Kardon equalizer and a brand new Onkyo C-7030 cd player. I couldn't be happier.

REVISION:
I reduced my rating to 4 stars, mainly because after several months of listening, no amount of adjustment to my NAD receiver and Harman Kardon equalizer would give me the high end treble response that I craved. It was good but not great. Perhaps my listening environment had something to do with it but no matter, I had to do something about it. So, I've been a bad boy - I transplanted a pair of Axiom titanium tweeters into the boxes. They fit into the Elac tweeter cut-outs like a glove. (Axiom is a highly respected Canadian speaker manufacturer.) Blasphemy! How dare I mess with an Andrew Jones designed speaker! As you can see by the pictures they are nearly a perfect fit aesthetically and I can also tell you, they are a perfect fit sonically. The improvement is nothing short of spectacular. I was able to greatly reduce the amount of high frequency equalization required. In conclusion, these Elacs in stock form sound very good. They are solid, well-made and look great. Better tweeters would make them the sonic bargain of the decade. Apparently I could've been happier after all!

Consigliate assolutamente.

4.0 de 5 estrellas Good purchase!
Revisado en Canadá el 6 de marzo de 2019
Estilo: ParCompra verificada
Nice speaker, good sound - better sounding than my KEF Q100. Very dynamic & forward. However, I feel that sound is little less refined. Good bass, but not deep enough. Nice highs, but lacks clarity at some level. Mid is good, but could be way better. Don't get me wrong, it is definitely a good purchase for the money. I think in future I'll budget $1500 + for the sound I'm dreaming of.
EDIT: Said goodbye to my Elac and got a pair of Polk Audio lsim 703. I'm happy with my decision. 703 is more refined than elac.

4.0 de 5 estrellas value for price A+
Revisado en Canadá el 2 de diciembre de 2018

Received the speakers before the date showing on Amazon (4 days earlier..excellent) Speakers themselves are nice, nothing to write home about...Been listening since friday (it's sunday now) and the are not fully broken yet I suppose. First impression compare to my Totem Mite that cost 3 times more than the Elac,is that depending on the quality of recording, they are either very good or very middle of the road. But for speakers in that price range, they are pretty good.
Highs are nice, mids are good and bass is ok. My receiver is a Marantz 5.1 that I use only in stereo. I've looked at some reviews and they use 5000$ amps and preamps.,so I'm sure that the speakers benefits from that. But who in their right mind would buy 300$ speakers when you have a 5000$ amp ??????? Anyway,I can't and won't buy anything that expensive.
Bottom line, right now I prefer my Totem Mite for my listening needs...(jazz,blues,...) but when it comes to rock or 70's 80's or 90's music, the best bet is the Elac...
