El sonido es grandioso, preciso, profundo y tan potente o discreto como uno decida, de acuerdo al tipo de música que se reproduzca, así como a las características de la habitación. Con este subwoofer sustituí uno de marca Pioneer. Simplemente no hay comparación.

El gabinete podría ser de mejor calidad , y mas alto ya que quedan muy a nivel del piso siento que se pierde algo de información musical. Ha sido un poco difícil acoplarlos a mi sistema de audio ( Yamaha Aventage RX-A1080, torres Polk Audio TSX 440). Si subo el volumen del Sub a mas de un tercio y con -3dB en el amplificador empieza a hacer ruido en el Port en escenas con bajos intensos. Quizá deberían acompañar junto con el manual ejemplos prácticos ( Punto ideal de corte , ganancia, volumen en dB del ampli, etc)para su mejor aprovechamiento.

El producto llego en condiciones de empacado casi perfecto solo por un pequeño dobles en la esquina de la caja el cual no le di importancia, pues venia sellado muy bien a lo que voy producto totalmente nuevo, el sub venia sin problemas ni rayones o cosas por el estilo como comento muy bien sellado. Quise aprovechar un descuento adicional que estaba teniendo Amazon por esto del prime day el cual fue mas que conveniente.
La prueba del sub la hice con distintos géneros de música ya que es para lo que lo iba a ocupar primordialmente hablando de Rock, Metal, Hip Hop, Reggae, Blues y Salsa en cuanto al volumen digamos que entre las 10 y 11 en punto ni si quiera llegaba a la mitad y el sub ya lanzaba unos graves ricos definidos y con potencia no hubo necesidad nunca de llegar a la mitad o mas. En dado momento escuchaba que la madera resonaba de una manera que opacaba el gran desempeño de este sub, me percate que en la parte del piso donde lo había puesto estaba desnivelado esto hacia que las frecuencias no se esparcieran como se debe y opacaran la calidad, puse pequeñas esponjas de espuma acústica que por suerte tenia ya que no quise cambiarlo de lugar pues donde lo puse llenaba el cuarto perfectamente y asunto arreglado el sub empezó a agarrar todavía mas forma en sus frecuencias. Seguí haciendo pruebas con los distintos géneros estaba super emocionado ya que no me estaba defraudando en lo absoluto pero en dado momento en la parte trasera de la salida de aire empezó a hacer ruidos extraños como trompetillas para que se den una idea, en un principio pensé que se había volado o roto la bocina pero como vuelvo a repetir la cantidad de volumen que estaba metiendo era menos de la mitad con un volumen moderado para un cuarto mediano y esos graves seguían nítidos y con un gran cuerpo el problema era ese sonido que en dado momento salía de la parte de atrás como si algo en la plaqueta de amplificación por dentro estuviera suelto y hacia que en la salida se escuchara ese ruido extraño. decidí cambiar de lugar a otro punto del cuarto donde los graves también se escuchaban muy bien y el piso era plano sin ningún desnivel, quite la esponja acústica de las patas pero el problema persistía, quise escuchar si había algo suelto por dentro pero nada. Al final toda la emoción que tenia en cuanto a la calidad de este sub se fue por ese sonido que yo lo deduje mas por una situación de fabrica algo que no se posiciono bien en el ensamblaje y causaba este sonido que deterioraba la calidad de graves o también puede que por el pequeño golpe que se le veía a la caja de algún golpe en transportación y haya movido algo por dentro no lo se. En estos momentos se esta tramitando la devolución del producto y espero que cuando quede hecha la devolución monetaria pedirlo nuevamente aunque sea ya a otro costo ya que no me defraudo en lo mas mínimo en cuanto a la calidad de graves que emite este sub. El vendedor fue Life Geek sin reclamos para ellos y enviado por Amazon sin reclamo para ellos también, meramente siento yo fue mas problema de fabrica que otra cosa, pero bueno hasta en las mejores marcas pasa.

The best cheapest sub if you can pay a bit more

I researched long and hard, tried out the Polk PSW10 and the Polk HTS SUB 10 BLK WAL, I can also compare it with the Bose Cinemate 15 acoustimass as well as the old $999 Bose speaker system I have.

This is small, and that is awesome for those looking for a small sub. It does not look as good as the HTS Sub, but it sounds way better than the extra $40 you pay for this over the Polk.

The Bose speakers are scientifically precise with the least boominess, especially the acoustimass with the $999 speakers. But they lack the warmth of even the cheapest Polk sub. I believe there is a whole range of frequencies lost somewhere between the mids and the lows in the Bose.

Polk PSW10 is horrible in comparison to this speaker. If you can afford this one, forget about it.

The Polk HTS is larger than the PSW10, sounds much better, and looks way more beautiful than this one with the grills on it. But, it suffers from the same boominess issue as the PSW10 which becomes a problem when you raise the volume of the sub. That is a problem because there are some songs where the bass is too boomy and if you reduce the sub volume, you basically loose the lows at such volumes - so what is the point?

The Klipsch is not as warm as the polks, not as cold, stark and precise as the Bose, and yet are very nice speakers with way less boominess and you can increase the volume a lot before the boominess starts and even then it is not that bad.

This makes me feel that there maybe subs at the next level which sound even better, but for my purposes I think this is more than adequate.

For home theater this is perfect, for music, sure you will definitely be able to get better sub than this for more $$$.

I would pay for a better sub than this if I am able to listen to music all the time, even when working and really obsessed with sound so much because I hear so much of it - I would go higher than this speaker.

But for most normal people who come home from work, feel tired, want to chill out in the evenings and the weekend, this should be more than adequate.

For sure, if your room/hall is very large then also I may go for something bigger. But for small/ medium size rooms this guy is more than adequate with low distortion for the price even at high volumes.

I would buy this one, if you are looking for a reasonably good, sound not wanting to pay too much just for a sub.

Update: I returned both and got two Klipsch R-110SW Subwoofer instead. It is only $75 more, and its price is more steady. The price on this one dropped since I got it. The reason I returned this eventually is because of comparison with my Bose acoustimass which has no boominess at all. So, even though this sub is very cute, very small and has much better sound than the Polk, it is still somewhat boomy which made a difference when there is a better one for just $75 more with a more stable price.

The Klipsch R-110SW Subwoofer blows everything I have heard so far - wow! Super clear, no noise at all! There is a big, big difference - slightly bigger, way more heavier, but extremely low distortion. I’ll put my review of that sub on its page.

I record in the studio, so it could just be that makes me more sensitive to distortion.

Replaced an older Klipsch sub

Bought this model to replace the older rw-10d Klipsch subwoofer after it died on me after 10+ years. The r-100sw had fairly similar specs to the older model so it's a simple swap out for now. Much smaller and lighter than the older model. The box doesn't seem to have a very thick wood frame. Has good solid rubber feet that keep it in place and is not easy to slide. I like the simple knobs and toggle switches on the back. On my older sub, it had the digital control panel on the top for its settings. The buttons on it stopped working properly years ago so I never could adjust it. Should not have this problem with this sub.
So far so good with low frequency sounds with the r-100sw sub. I set it to half way on the gain and LFE to let the receiver control the crossover. Has more bass than the older sub. You can definitely hear the kick. My front 2 tower speakers are full range speakers so I mainly need a sub for deep bass and low frequency sound effects that the front tower speakers cannot produce. Smaller subs with less wattage will not give you that same kick as this sub as it can go up to 300 watts. For the current $220-250 price range, the r-100sw is a much better bang for buck than any $200 & under subwoofer.

This sub gives pipe organs rumble

I purchased the Klipsch R-100SW subwoofer along with a pair Klipsch The Fives powered loudspeakers as a nice upgrade to my PC's sound system. You see, I listen to allot of organ music. So as good as my old Bose 2.1 set up was, Isaac Newton was telling me that no amount of Bose techno trickery can get a tiny pair of 3" full range drivers and a petite 6" subwoofer to ply the depths of a pipe organs 32' stops nor present the massive Soundstage that would do a pipe organ justice. So out went the Bose setup and in came my new Kiipsch setup.

I can tell you that the R-100SW does go deep and hits hard. But it's composed enough to play well with The Fives. The bottom end has what l can best described to have a warm rounded sound much like a pair of vintage loudspeakers from the stereo war era of the late 70's. The sub provide the warmth, depth, and punch while small 4" drivers in the Fives are agile enough to add in the texture and detail to what the sub is doing. It's a fun and thrilling experience.

One reviewer complained that the sub does not respond below 30hz. Well the specs do say that the sub is rated to go down to 32hz. However for me, I can tell you that this sub handles a pipe organ's 32' stops without breaking a sweat. My room is fairly small and features a concrete floor and walls. So room gain helps the sub plunge the rest of the way down to the 20hz pitch of a pipe organ's lowest notes. So I would say room acoustics and placement is very important to how this sub, or any sub performs. Need more and deeper bass, put the sub into a corner so room gain can help boost your bass and extend frequncy responce.

The only real negative thing I have to say is the R-100SW's auto off/on feature is laggy. It takes a few seconds for the sub to wake up out of standby mode instead of reacting to an incoming signal instantly. However since the sub has a digital amp, there is not any real power savings of using auto on. Digital amps are quite efficient sitting idle as it is. So just set the sub to be always on and leave it that way.

Bottom line if you are looking for deep warm bass that hits hard and are on a budget and have a small room like I do, then this sub is for you. For me, this sub is definitely meeting my musical needs quite nicely. Pipe organs rumble with authority via this sub.

Nw that my amazon basics cable came in, the sub is (virtually) perfect! No hum or sound when not in use, and sounds amazing. I couldn't be happier with it.

This thing sounds great with my R-15PMs bookshelf speakers, tracks like "warg scouts" form the hobbit are amazing. however there is a constant (loud) hum when these are on. I am 99% sure it is interference due to the makeshift cable i'm using until my sub-cable arrives. Will update when it arrives.

As far as looks go, this thing is amazing. I love the wood texture klipsch's new reference line has, it almost makes me want to upgrade my bookshelf speakers to match!

This is a very good sub for the money. Klipsch quality is renowned and they hold true to reputation with this model. The larger 12" would likely provide a deeper tone but cabinet size was a factor for me so I purchased the 10" instead.
I am NOT disappointed in the least. Easy hook ups and adjustments well explained in their guide that accompanies the speaker. Will not disappoint or sure. Well priced as well.

The subwoofer has good sound quality but struggles at high volumes. I have it connected to a 750 W Yamaha. It's strictly a home movie theatre subwoofer. Not really for music. I turned it up while listening to music with heavy bass and l began to small something burning out. It wad coming fron the sub. Hopefully it is not damaged.
