Please be aware that the Roku Ultra that i received was an American version and as such did not come with a UK power brick, or even a US to UK adapter plug. Also note that the BBC iplayer will not work with anything other that the UK version
Roku still is less than optimal, the old D-Link Boxee Box was unbeatable, but this is pretty damn good :)
UPDATE: Just found out that this unit wasn't new and was already registered to another email account, only found out when I went to request warranty service. With the Roku you can only enter your email account once and link the device to your account once (I wish I knew that before now) and obviously I was sold someone else used device that is now having hardware problems.
This is the worst streaming player that I have ever used in my life time. Canadian channels only no IPTV so this streamer is totally useless. Setting up applications is shear labour. What a waste of money!!! Canadians do not buy this Nvidia Shield cost more but it works.
Everything works great but I got one that someone opened for some reason. It's also a 2018 model (damn it) so the 5 dollar credit, which was useless to me anyway, was well expired before I even placed the order.
This particular unit does not process Dolby Digital or any other multi-channel audio. It's been in use for barely 2 months - DEFECTIVE product - but the return / exchange window is closed after 30 days ?!? What kind of warranty is that ?.
update: reduced to 1 star May 2021: Roku has issued an update that breaks the volume control synch with my Samsung devices. Picture your smooth tv experience for the last year turning into digging into drawers to find where you left the volume remote because you suddenly need two. Being an empty nester I don't have a child I can send across the room to change volume like its 1978. Based on what I am reading in Roku forums the update has broken the functionality on every brand of tv and receiver. Roku is aware of the issue but has not rolled back the update and still has not determined a fix.
I still think Roku is the only option you should own. Right now I'm tremendously frustrated with their poor programming and testing on this release. Hoping that this review makes it to someone's desk that has the authority to DO SOMETHING. Will revise when my volume works again.

on my new Samsung the roku remote turns on the tv and controls the volume - which carries through to the soundbar (helps that the soundbar is Samsung as well and the system integrates)
Roku is a VASTLY SUPERIOR experience to Samsung's Bixby
cons: (I'm hard pressed to truly call it a con because its true of every device) I wish I could customize the quick buttons- we quit sling when they dropped our fox sports hockey broadcast and would love to change that button to YoutubeTV I would like to have more intuitive controls TRUE COMPLAINT: Why is there no mute button if you have the volume?
I recommend Roku to anyone who wants to manage their streaming services or cut cord. its a voice remote so I am sure it is listening to us... I hate it but I use a smartphone that has the same issue
