Excelente sonido

Muy fácil de conectar y hacer el set up por medio de la pantalla de la TV, tiene muy buen sonido y el up scale a 4K, el sistema esta conectado con 7 bocinas klipsch Reference SF y un subwoofer de 200 watts RMS Boston Acustic, mas que suficiente para un cuarto de TV mediano.

Después de instalarlo de acuerdo con las instrucciones y una vez que encendimos la TV el sonido duró apenas unos minutos y después el amplificador se apagó inesperadamente. La luz de encendido parpadeaba en rojo, encendía pero de inmediato se volvía a apagar. Después de revisar en foros y comunidades vimos que a veces se presenta este problema y que se debía inicializar de nuevo presionando dos teclas y el encendido. Nada funcionó. Para un Denon nuevo es una absoluta decepción, afortunadamente pude regresarlo de inmediato gracias a Amazon no imagino el tormento de haberlo comprado en alguna tienda departamental. Definitivamente manténganse alejados de este producto, no vale la pena.

Surround Sound System sounds awful!

Not impressed with the unit, my older Denon gave me much better sound. I still have not been able to set up this unit properly. My centre speakers are not working, the bass is all over the place. Watching TV on the theatre surround system is frustrating as the background music over powers the speaking to the point we can,t understand what is said. We have carefully followed all set up nstructions and have made several calls to the Denon Help desk but the problems persist. At the moment I am giving serious thought to returning the unit.

I purchased this to be the "brains and controller" for the following equipment: 2019 Sony Bravia 60" TV, Sony Ultra Blue Ray player, Directv 4KUHD Server and Client, a Shield streaming device, and Plex Movie Server. The AV receiver has ample inputs to handle all of these devices, but simply does not match that well with the video output of the TV. I am about four months into trying to set up all the components to function up to my expectations and have spent hours and hours trying to configure and fine tune all the components so that my entertainment center performs and its peak potential for all components. It will function with all devices in a satisfactory manner; however, I have not been able to use all devices at their peak performance capabilities. I even employed a video/IT tech to assist me in fine tuning the installation. The results are a completely functional, but less than "peak performing" for one or more of the components. The difficulties began when I noticed 4K UHD picture that was definitely less than crisp and "washed out" when played from the Shield through the AV receiver, but crystal clear when played with a direct HDMI input through the TV. No matter how I tuned the picture and sound and video when played through the receiver, I could not duplicate the quality when played through the TV HDMI input. I even tried the "pass through" function on the Denon with even worse results and a host of other issues that arose. When I checked the other APPS played from the TV vs. played through the Receiver, I noticed the same disparity in video quality. Since there are only 2 60 FPS UHD HDMI inputs on the TV, one of which is the ARC input, I am left with having to use the input with the ARC for the AV receiver to have HDMI control capabilities; thus leaving only one 60FPS HDMI inputs available on the TV. The greatest variety of signal input in my system comes from the streaming and PLEX server on the Shield, so I used the remaining 60FPS input to serve the output from the Shield - and it all works with true and excellent 4K Ultra HD movies from the Plex Server. Directv is running through the Denon enhanced 4K input with excellent results. Both the Blue Ray player and the Directv server function well in that manner, however the UHD Blue Ray plays only at the HD capability. Both the Denon and the Sony TV have "picture tuning" features for , set uniquely for each separate HDMI input; however, the controls on the Sony are superb and much more detailed, better than those on the Denon. The result is that all inputs from theDenon HDMI output to the TV are played with the same video settings on the TV, any changes in "picture tuning" must be done on the Denon as they will now use the settings for HDMI 2 as set on the TV. This boils down to the all devices using HDMI outputs to the Denon are using the same TV settings, regardless the origin of the input. Fortunately the video output of DirecTv is very compatible with the Denon and results are very good to excellent. Since Blue Ray seems to be a disappearing device, and Blue Ray UHD discs very expensive, that device is left to its own vices, with little flexibility in picture tuning. Of note: the Denon and DirecTv have issues with the handling of Direct's HDCP coding and the sound periodically drops completely out when watching Direct. Since I am using the ARC function, the "on screen displays" from the Denon are "extremely hampered and poor" the many options for tuning are difficult to find and change on the limited Denon display. The ARC audio from the TV to the Denon seems to limit the options for tuning the audio as the audio from the TV is of lesser quality than the audio from the Denon. Of particular note is the ATMOS surround capability of the Denon. I would rate the audio function of the Denon receiver as a 5+ across all inputs except the ARC channel. I don't know if the difficulty of HDCP between the Denon and DirecTv originates with Direct or Denon, as all devices in the entertainment center are listed as HDCP capable, but I do know that that glitch is extremely annoying and when the sound drops out, either the Denon or DirecTv must be re-booted . I may be asking too much from the Denon, but reading the specifications, I thought the AV receiver would be matched very well in my system. I haven't scratched the surface in covering the hundreds of other "whistles and bells" found on the Denon receiver. There is a 300+ page manual which is well written covering those features. I would suggest, that if you purchase one of the receivers, you download and read as you install the receiver into your AV entertainment system. Another note, I found the Denon to be fairly sensitive to older or poorer quality HDMI cables. I recommend the Amazon Basics cables as the very least for HDMI inputs/outputs for this receiver. In retrospect, I would probably choose to add an "audio only" component and leave all video processing to the Sony TV which, on its own produces an excellent HD and 4K UHD pictures. I remain impressed with the Denon's capabilities in handling audio, even with mid prices speakers. I use Infinity main speakers, mid range Yamaha surround speakers, and Polk sub-woofer with excellent results. The Audessey setup and acoustics adjustments are superb.

Sounds good, Audyssey works surprisingly well, assignable amp channels for zone 2. Does a lot for the price.
BUT, the front left amplifier channel failed after only a few hours of use. Fortunately it happened within Amazon's return window.
Also, the bluetooth reception is very poor. It was breaking up from 10 feet away in the same room regardless of source device.
If you plan on using it for multizone purposes, note that you are very limited as to what sources may be used for the second zone. No HDMI/Toslink/Coax SPDIF support for Zone 2 source.

This is Denon's top of the line budget unit and it shows. As an video unit it works just fine, not great, but decent. I am a stereo fanatic and have a lot invested in vintage gear. I replaced and older Denon monster unit with this for the Smart TV did not talking to the older unit, and I had to have an older separate TV so see the Denon menu so as to adjust it. This unit has a tinny sound and I just do not find a depth of field to the unit. Of course it appears that if you want a good sounding AVR you can expect to hit the 2K mark. My first true AVR was a Denon when DD first came out, and I paid 1800 for it. I just thought with the reviews and technology that the sound would be fine at this price point for watching movies, I was wrong. It should be noted that I use this unit just for movies. If listening to music, I resort to my 2 channel vintage equipment. No comparison. This unit is just a lackluster unit and unless you are on a real budget, do not consider the budget line of Denon. Save all your money, buy a vehicle for 2k less than you want to spend, and put that money toward a good AVR unit.

Like many people, I have been watching more and more streamed video. At first, most of it was short YouTube videos or Netflix TV shows but when I started watching some movies, I realized that there was no surround sound!
After a little investigating, I found that unlike the AC3 and dts audio formats on DVDs/BluRays most streaming is in AAC format. I downloaded some test videos and found my 19 year old JVC AV amp played 6 channel AAC as stereo but when I converted them to AC3, they played as 5.1 channel surround. (BTW both formats played as 5.1 using VLC on my computer). So I decided it was time to update to a new amp that would know how to decode AAC. While researching what to buy, I couldn't find any descriptions that mentioned whether they could decode AAC properly. So, hoping that all new AV amps now decode AAC I bought the Denon AVR-S650H. Sounds great!, nice to have HDMI inputs which the JVC didn't, love the way it uses Bluetooth to connect to my phone, the Google Home integration, the HEOS radio stations all over the world...but it doesn't decode streaming AAC into 5.1 surround sound! That knocked off 1 star. The other, which is actually a half star failure, is the ancient looking, pixelated setup and info displays on the screen. Maybe someday there will be a firmware update that corrects these problems and I can rereview.

I gave this a very generous three stars. Never again will I buy a Denon and I should have returned this. I don't know if there is something defective with mine, but I cannot get anyone to tell me why I don't have an bluetooth transmitter option in the setup menu that the manual says I should have and was the sole reason for this purchase. I already had a receiver that I had to buy an external bluetooth transmitter for. I am still having to use it on this new one and I shouldn't have to. Online customer service is friendly, but no one has told me the answer to my problem and I even sent them a picture of my TV screen showing the lack of a bluetooth transmitter option. Seems okay in other areas, though some of the setup is more complicated than it should be. Disappointing.

This AVR-S650H is ok but needs improvement. I tried using it on a projector with a firestick and sending the audio over bluetooth. The sync between the audio and video was way off. The sync settings didn't help at all. I had to purchase a very long hdmi cable and plug the firestick into the avr and run the cable from the avr to the projector to get it to sync. Also I have a vintage Marantz stereo that is rated 50 watts per channel less than this one but is louder at half volume than this avr is at 90% volume. So the advertised wattage per channel is way over rated. Other than that I like the other features and it seems to work ok. The sound listening to music is on par with other low end receivers. I probably am spoiled by the Marantz.

I really wanted to like this Denon - this was my first foray into this brand after using mostly Onkyo and Yamaha over the past decade. I purchased this to replace a buggy Sony STRND1080 amp that I could never get to operate correctly despite hours of fiddling.

Here's what I noticed in the ~2 hours I had this set up;
- It's as if it's tailor made for folks taking their first steps in home theater setup. The setup wizard has a dizzying number of steps made to help users set up absolutely everything (network, speaker configs, etc).
- For the speakers that were getting all the juice they needed (see below about bi-amp support) they sounded GREAT. I have a ~5 year old set of Polk monitors.

Unfortunately the reason for my mid-range review is also the reason I had to return this receiver. When Denon says it's a 7.2 setup THEY MEAN 7.2! DOES NOT SUPPORT BI-AMP. Which is very surprising given the class that this receiver is in, how much it costs, and how much power it puts out. This amp seems to be very much targeted towards users who want an Atmos setup or other 7-speaker configurations. Not sure if this is something that can be fixed with a firmware update - but one would hope so.

You spend almost $600 and the product doesn't include the manual. You need the manual in order to learn how to operate the equipment, yet it's not included. This wasn't stated anywhere in the description. I called customer service for Denon and was instructed to go to a service manuals site and order a printed copy, however, this receiver isn't on their list of products. To print the almost 300 page manual would be over $30 at UPS, assuming you want it in black and white and not color, then it would be more than double. Not at all what I expect when ordering such an expensive item. Very cheap of the manufacturer not to include a manual and expect their customers to hunt it down online and pay more money to have it printed.
