Very Small

This is a classic dress that works for many occasions. My complaint is that it runs very small. I sized up but the sleeves were still so tight that I couldn't finish zipping it myself. The fabric is lightweight and has a hint of stretch. There's a hook closure at the split neckline. I would definitely recommend sizing up if you're curvy. For fit reference, I'm 5'6", 153lbs and a 34G bra size. The 14 would have been ideal.

Snug around the middle, consider sizing up

I am two months postpartum, 5’6” and 185lbs. I usually wear a size 10 and I ordered a size 12. The size 12 fits snugly, so I am definitely glad I sized up.

I like that there are pockets, but because of the cut of the dress and placement of the pockets, they poke out. My hips are already wide as it is, so the pockets flaring right at my hips is very unflattering.

The dress fits well in the chest and sleeves, but is tight around the midsection.

Material is similar to women’s dress slacks and is good at hiding flaws.

This is deceptively small. The model is 5'11 and wearing a size 2 and the dress goes almost to her knees. My daughter is 5'1 and in a size 4 and the dress is much further above her knees than the model's dress. Additionally, it's a little bit baggy around the waist in an unflattering way but not so much that it won't be worn or used.

This is well made though. The seams do not look as if they will be ripped out. The front top is lovely. The keyhole in the front is flattering and not too risque. To keep it from spreading open there is a little hook and eye type thing. This is also nice because you can then leave the hook and eye at the back of the dress latched and still fit the dress over your head because the one in the front is open.

Overall this is not going to be the go to little black dress that would go from work to evening wear or that can be dressed up and down depending on the situation. It will be a dress my daughter wears and it will be fine. It just wasn't as nice as anticipated based on the photos the typical quality of Lark and Ro.

flattering, but a very slim fit up top

i'm struggling with telling you it's a just right fit, because although it kind of is - it's a little weird the why behind it. 8 months ago before a breast reduction, this would never have fit me. from the waist up, this dress almost runs a size smaller than the rest of the dress, which does in fact create a very flattering look but if i hadnt had the reduction, i would look like i was wearing the heaviest duty sports bra you've ever seen. the slimness of the fit is not limited to the chest though, it's also into the arms, it doesnt feel tight, just fitted. where it gets interesting is once you hit the belted area, it feels more like the size you ordered, the pockets however do not reflect that - there is no way to get them to lay flat or closed, it doesnt appear to have been made with that in mind - it's really good when you do slip your hand into one though - i love pockets, i just prefer when i am not utilizing them that they are a bit more hidden. the neck line is very modest, and there is a hook and eye at the top in the event you want to create a keyhole opening, i just prefer to leave it open. and the length is really nice as well knowing you won't flash anyone if you need to bend over. to bring it all together though, there is a good deal of stretch to the fabric (without it looking like stretchy material!) so that all of the weirdness in the slim top, you do still feel like you can move freely without risk of splitting a seam. it is a very nice dress - the fabric is very light without being see-through, and the material has a lot of give without being clingy or looking cheap. as long as you find the right fit up top - i think it can be a great LBD addition to any wardrobe.

A good basic, but could be better

Style-wise, this is a good basic dress that is going to be pretty versatile. It will work just as well at the office as it does for a casual day out.

It seems like most of the reviews are saying that it runs small. That wasn't the case for me. I usually wear a 10 or maybe a 12, and ordered this in a 10, and it is actually a touch bigger on me than I like. I could probably get away with the 8 and still be comfortable. I've have other Lark & Ro dresses that run much smaller than this one.

It's a fairly thin material with very little stretch. It's also unlined, but doesn't really need it. It does have pockets (yay)!

I'm 5'2" and the hem falls at my knee. It will of course be a little shorter on women taller than me, maybe falling into the 'not quite appropriate for the office' length.

To be honest, though, I was expecting higher quality at this price. There are a lot of other dresses on Amazon that are better made and cost less, even from the Lark & Ro brand. I think before I really considered this one I'd spend a few minutes more shopping and maybe find a better deal.

There aren't really any big problems with this dress. It just isn't anything special. A good basic, but it isn't going to stand out.

Woman in a Black Dress

The dress is very modest and clean. It would go great with bold accessories as it would help to accentuate them. The dress has pockets which was something that my girlfriend was really pleased with, as I am sure most woman would be. One thing we were not too particularly found of was the stitching that went across the side of the busts, it seemed like an awkward place to have a seem. The size fit as described, the material is made of a stiff fabric which may make it not as flattering depending on the body type. Aside from that small criticism we were relatively pleased with the dress. My girlfriend is definitely excited to where it out, however it seems to be for more formal occasions rather than casual wear.

This is a well constructed, very professional and polished looking dress. The fabric has light stretch, but feels a bit slick and plasticky. It’s sufficiently opaque that no slip is needed. This dress has bust darts and an a-line skirt that is knee length at my height of 5’6”. There are side seam pockets. The bodice has a hook at the top of the slit so it can be worn as an open v if desired. The self-fabric belt is a bit tricky to get tied in a neat bow and is stiff enough that it looks weird if the bow isn’t pretty. Overall, I like this dress quite a lot but would probably like it even more in a different fabric.
