I wanted a mic that I didn't have to be 'on top of' for it to pick up my voice, and that works with Linux. This mic does both.
I returned a similar Yotto mic that worked less well with Linux. Both mics were probably made in the same factory in China as they are virtually identical, but this mic uses a Realtek chipset, which is well supported in Linux. Both mics were of good build quality, but this one has a much cheaper boom assembly. However, it works as advertised.
If you are using Windows, then the Yotto mic has better built accessories. If you are using Linux, this one works 'out of the box.' Tested on Mint 19.3.
I've been using this mic for school and gaming for several months now, almost daily with no issues. The included mic stand was easy to set up and was very sturdy mounted on my desk. It conveniently comes with a pop filter and a foam filter that goes around the mic, so there are options on which to use. The sound quality is really great and works well for meetings on Skype, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and for gaming on Steam and Discord. I knocked off a star because the USB cord that the product came with didn't work, so I had to use another one I had on hand (the usb cord is a standard USB-A to USB-B), which wasn't difficult to find but was a little bit frustrating when I was initially testing my setup. However, the sound quality and durability of the mic is really great and overall I would still recommend this product!
I got this for recording voiceover demos (I am a novice). It was very easy to setup and I like that you can easily move it to other areas in your home as needed/desired. I was a tiny bit disappointed that the sound quality wasn't *that* much different than the microphone from my MacBook Pro (let me be clear, it is definitely better), but I think my expectations were higher than what was realistic for a mic kit of this price. Overall would definitely recommend to a beginner/casual podcaster or voiceover actor!
This is a great set-up for the price but I tried to save a few dollars by buying a return. Apparently Amazon doesn't check for damage and the dip that returned it had crushed the piece that allows it to swivel. I managed to get it mostly functional. Also the previous purchaser had, for some reason, disassembled the microphone and not screwed it back together. It still fit in the foam packaging so again, no-one checked.
Easy to setup. It really was plug and play on Windows 10. The sound quality is clear, but a little on the weak side. We have to crank the gain to get a reasonable sound level when recording. Other than that the components are good quality. Still good value for the money.
Easy to set up, mine was plug and play, using audacity to record. As with any recording, the higher your input volume is, the more background noise and buzzing and hisses you are going to pick up. Low input volume = better sound.
Downside is the mic stand, the part that you connect to a table that has a clamp is not going to last long. But other than that its been great. Especially for the price.
This microphone is very sensitive which is visible by its high audio fidelity. The microphone captures all the lows, mids, and highs of vocals even without audio filters. Unfortunately, the team at Rig determined my USB cable to be defective, causing distorted sound output. They were very helpful when it came to troubleshooting and overall customer satisfaction.
Everytime the table was touched, a metallic vibrating sound could be heard. Not ideal when recording a podcast. I ended up ditching the stand and putting the mic in a DIY base (an old candle jar with some pens holding it in place) and it seemed to work way better. Mic was easy to use, no driver downloads or anything, just plug and use.
The mic is great! Packaged with care and came with everything, which actually are really sturdy for its price! Setting it up was easy aswell! Everything is perfect about about this mic except for this one small problem. It is really quiet on default volume, but it is an easy fix, a quick tweaking in audio settings should do the trick! Other than that, I'd say its one of the best budget mics to buy right now on amazon!
