Running XP on a 20 year old DELL Desktop. Power outages knocked out the computer and it would not boot. I love this PC and wanted it fixed. After reading all the negativity on this thread I was VERY skeptical. After using this product it was worth the gamble buying it. Local guys said the boot files were corrupted so I needed a new hard drive and reinstall XP: lots of travel and $$$ and time required. No way!!! using my Newer Win 10 DELL desktop I searched out this disk, ordered and followed the instructions. Most computers are setup to boot a bootable disc from the CD drive before loading XP. So after placing the disk in the CD drive, switching it on and waiting just a few minutes my computer was completely fixed without having to wade through any menus... the disc fixed the computer requiring no user interface. What a pleasant experience!!! A product that worked as advertised, seamlessly. For my type of computer and electrical disaster problem I can highly recommend this product.
This product ruined my computer! Product description clearly states correction of boot problems and lists several operating systems. Instead of repairing my Windows 7 boot problems, it installed Windows 10! I hate Windows 10 and do not want it! I Yes, yes, I know that as of today, 14 January 2020 Microsoft no longer supports Windows 7. Doesn't matter. I believed your misleading product description and through your NEGLIGENCE, you took away vital and critically needed capability!
I ADMIT MY LAPTOP CRASH WAS MY FAULT. AFTER IT CRASHED, I GOT A 'NO BOOT DEVICE' WHEN TURNED ON AND THAT WAS IT. THIS BOOT DISK CORRECTED MY ERROR AND PUT MY COMPUTER BACK UP AND RUNNING WITH NO LOSS OF DATA OR SAVED DOCUMENTS. VERY PLEASED WITH THE RESULTS.
This is an excellent and powerful suite of utilities any good tech wants to have at hand.
Took me five minutes to solve a pesky MBR and partition problem to allow an install of 64 bit Windows in place of a 32 bit install Dell had somehow munged on a refurbished PC.
But...and this is important: These are heavy duty tools. If you do not know what you are doing, you'll wreck your PC possibly past easy salvage other than nuke and reload.
I suspect this is where a good deal of the one star reviews originate: People who don't know they don't know and who got "creative". Some roads have no path back.
I'm a retired tech who has been working on computers/programming them since 1971 so I tend to know what I am doing. Had to give up my super pro tools (and some stuff you don't get to know as this was government work so I had a few things beyond the common.)
Tread carefully with this disc. With great power comes great chances to bugger things badly, But if used properly and judiciously, this will save you many times the cost of the disc in actual money and in your time trying to fix things.
One other caveat: It is very slow to boot. Be patient. I thought it was locked up and rebooted then went to get some coffee. Came back and it was fine As with anything to do with a PC, be patient. Haste ruins more stuff than almost anything short of utter incompetence.
Put this and a good Windows reinstall disc (for when things go south but you have the license key) and a thumb drive with the extra drivers you need for your systems, wifi/ethernet at minimum so you can get back online to get the rest and you have a major arsenal that can solve more problems than you might think.
Want to learn? Go buy a $100 laptop or refurbished older PC and make that into a sand box. Try things, reload and try again. Best training is doing. But NEVER practice on production machines. Or your spouse's.
And always make more backups than you think you need. Murphy is *always* awake and just off your shoulder waiting for overconfidence.
Get this if you feel confident. At the very least you can boot things up to run diagnostics you might not be able to any other way. Checkdsk fixes a myriad of sins, let me tell you. :)
Do not waste your Money The Ralix Windows Emergency Boot Disk do not work . I work on computers and had used other seller restore disks that really worked . I wanted to try the Ralix Windows Emergency Boot Disk just to see if it was a good product. Sadly it is not a good product because it did not work no boot-up ,no display no nothing was produced by the Ralix disk .
Amazon need to stop the sell of this particular disk ,
It didn't work for me but I had no problems returning it. I looked it over via a 'good' computer, and it looked like it should work. It just didn't work for me. These things are excellent and if you need one, this was a good price, got here fast, and the return policy was like insurance. I can't do anything but recommend it.
It claimed to be a boot disk and that function it performed well. Many of my USB ports were disabled and I could not control the system. The boot disc booted the system and enabled the ports. My problem could only be solved by Reinstalling Windows 10 Using a Reinstall file from Microsoft, which had to be started from a USB device after the DVD Drive Booted the system. Therefore you downloaded the Reinstall file from Microsoft to a USB Jump Drive. Then boot the system with the Boot DVD. After the boot go to the Jump drive ant double click the Setup .exe file.
Good: ->Delivered without delays and in good working condition. ->As advertised it allows to correct booting issues. ->Really inexpensive if you take into account that buying an actual OS disk from Microsoft is over $100 and if you only have booting issues that's unnecessary. Bad: ->At least for me it did not work as expected. I had read several forums and even their own instructions online as to how the recovery would work, but it did not work that way. Instead it booted into it's own live version and only because I knew what I was doing I was able to open the cmd terminal and fix my bootloader. *However* I'm confident they can email you instructions if you get stuck, as they promise they do.
I don't normally leave reviews, I know I should because it does help others, but I just won't take the time BUT I just had to for this. OMG it worked on my PC. Have an older Dell Windows 7 PC that went bonkers and no matter what I did to try to fix it, it just got worse to the point of only black screen and nothing would load. Then I put this is and AMAZING, it loaded whatever the PC had needed, got my Windows 7 install disc to take over and it is up and running beautifully!!! Seriously I thought I would have to toss the PC in the trash. I am thrilled!
My wife’s laptop booted into the blue screen right after the big update for Windows 10. Thanks Microsoft! After spending hours trying to safe boot, I gave up. This is why newer computers recommend making a boot disk. We never did that. I found this on Amazon but was hesitant after reading the reviews; but, if you can read between the lines, most of those poor reviews were likely from those that don’t understand what they are doing. If you don’t know what you are doing, this disk WILL do irreversible damage! This disk is not meant to fix your computer, it simply rescues the boot drive so YOU can repair whatever jacked it to begin with. In the right hands its a lifesaver. That is why I gave the Ease of Use three stars. Its not meant for everyone.
