While i feel there is nothing intrinsically wrong with these earphones, they certainly haven't lived up to my expectations.
I'm not a fan of the over-ear clip design, but decided to accept this as a compromise due to the level of praise these have received over the years.
In terms of sound quality, I personally don't think the earphones justify the general feedback I've read. In fact, I'd say they fall quite far short of my expectations. The bass tones are reasonably good, but the overall sound just feels a bit flat. I was hoping for a more rich and immersive experience. Whilst none of the bass, middle or treble are particular poor, none of them excel when compared to what my previous cheap earphones could deliver.
I last had a pair of £20 SDFlayer earphones which really were superior in every aspect... but sadly they have been discontinued.
I also agree with the various reviews mentioning the poor quality of the tips and cable. I had already ordered myself replacement foam buds having preempted the issue.
Overall - I wish I had gone with my gut and purchased the Soundmagic E11s. These Blons are now going to have to do for the next couple of years or so.
I can't complain about the value for money. These earphones will remain the king of the low-budget market for quite some time, I recon. These earphones are really impressive in terms of sound quality for £30-£40. They out-perform many earphones with higer price points. That said, new competition is arising, such as the Moondrop Aria for £60, which isn't that much more money if you have it, and in my opinion, are far better in practically all metrics.
Furthermore, I simply can't get along with the fit. These earphones are a weird shape that never fully reaches into my ear, always feeling like they are slightly loose and difficult to adjust them to get the optimum sound quality. Though this will depend on the person and their ear shape. For that reason, I have never fully got along with these earphones, but I most definitely appreciate the value for money. Only have about £30 to spend? I don't think anything else at that price point beats these.
As others have said, the supplied tips and cable are awful. The sound quality really is comparable to much more expensive IEMs. The music hangs together and just sounds 'right'. To be a nitpicker, the very high treble and very low bass are subdued.
Really comfortable after you reshape the ear hooks with a little heat and apply some foam tips. Sound lives up to all the hype - relaxed and spacious with no EQ required for my taste. They're also really easy to drive, so if you're still rocking a headphone jack on your smartphone you're sorted! No need to change the cable as some suggest either - I suspect the main drive for this would be the aforementioned ear hooks and a lack of DIY ability...
Sound quality is really good ....they are very impressive especially for the price...the only downside for me is that they don't seem to fit deep into the ear but that is a minor niggle....excellent and well worth the low price
They are well tuned which makes up for the technicalities which aren't great. I do not find the the bass overpowering the mids and they are not sibilant at all. Very safe and enjoyable sound signature. For the gym these would be excellent if you want more sub bass boom
