Good for the price but also you get what you pay for

Just to give some background, I was looking for an inexpensive video to do vlogging type stuff and take some videos with my dog. I don't have much experience with more expensive camcorders or what kind of technology and features you can expect if you paid 150 200 dollars, but TL;DR this is neat for the price and gives you a compact HD picture that is pretty good and it is cool that it has the video screen and an extra battery. The menus are fairly easy to figure out after a couple of minutes of poking around.

So anyways my criticisms, you have to buy an SD card which is not that big of a deal but you want to be aware of it before you start to use it. Apparently it only holds up to 32gb which is not that big especially with how fast video file sizes add up, so it's probably better to make small clips and not expect to make a huge 2 hours video. With that being said I don't know about how other cameras and their storage work so it might not be too bad.

The USB technology seems kind of old but also it charges the battery pretty good so not really any complaints. I was not expecting USB C connections or anything for the price. I have not used it as a webcam, but you will probably want to get an inexpensive tripod to do that which is more extra money you have to add on depending on the reasons you bought it to begin with.

My major complaints and the reason for the 3 stars is it consistently freezes on me and I have to reset it. It might be because the battery connection comes apart for a second or just because the software quality, but it may be an issue you have that costs you when trying to record at the perfect moment. Also, the sound quality / microphone is pretty bad. One annoying thing is when pressing the zoom buttons on the top you hear it on the video very loudly so you will definitely want to edit the final product or have your zoom level figured out before you start recording. Also because it is so small I found it more difficult to keep it steady and smaller movements show up more. Anyways I still recommend it but if you need more than the bare minimum to record videos there are probably way better options for 50-100 dollars more.

The camera is fine and does the job for the amount paid. Unfortunately, I was one of the few who did not receive a charger with the camera. I honestly cannot figure out what type of charger it works with, either. I've bought a couple I thought would fit from Amazon but no luck, this sort of rendering this little contraption useless.

If you're recording and not worried about the audio, I SUPPOSE it's adequate. The audio of the microphone is really, really, really low. I imported a simple recording into my video editor and turned up the volume of the video by 24dBs and I could just barely hear it. I'm using this to record the snow. I guess if you're recording nature, it's just doable, but that's it. Better than my 16MP smart phone. So there's that.

So I have about 10 hours of recordings so far on this camera with average results. You have to get a SIM Card in order for this to store any footage or pictures. You can choose the quality of your recordings/pictures based on how long you want the storage of the SIM Card to last; 1080p, 720p, 480p. I chose 720p so that the image would be decent and the SIM would last longer but honestly I have an older camera that takes 720p recordings and pictures and the quality seems to be better on the older camera versus this one. I mean it's a "cheaper" camera and for the price I can't really complain too much and it does work fine. So I guess my suggestion to anyone looking at buying this camera would be keep the settings on 1080p all the time and just buy more SIM Cards (because 1080p uses up more memory space) or just deal with the very average picture quality.

Purchased camera for son. Needed something basic and easy to use. This camera isn't super intuitive but we are figuring it out. The biggest concern that I have is that the sound is TERRIBLE! He likes to replay and listen to his videos, but he can only see it. When he holds the camera and talks,, he can barely hear his own voice which is right by the camera. Also, we were looking for a camera with a decent light for recording in the dark. The light on this camera is a joke. Big bummer. I don't think the issues are specific to our camera, I think it's just a cheap camera. My young son can even tell its cheap. Disappointed.

First of all, the camera works. So, for $60+, it's a working video camera. However, you might want to know that the zoom is not smooth, it sort of clicks through the zoom. Next, the instructions are unintelligible. Next, the menus are unintuitive. Other than that, if you're looking for cheap camera that will record video, this is one.

Very good for the price, don't expect high end picture quality and a bit choppy zoom, it would be a great tool for younger kids to use for filming productions. I retuned only because seller could not provide the missing battery charge cord and USB/camcorder cords.

this is a cheap camera that is being used for that purpose. It works. I was not looking for a high end camera, but something that would do the job and this is perfect. Feels a bit cheap, but it works well so far.
