While this system does have excellent sound, it takes a lot of manual effort.
The Good: 1. The sound is crisp and clear, and can be turned up loud without distortion. 2. No need to run speaker wires all over the place, just put them near an outlet.
The Not-so-good: 1. The app does not have a way to balance the speakers automatically, and it does not generate any kind of white noise or tone to help adjust the speakers. WISA is advertised to be wireless audio without a dedicated receiver, but every receiver I've owned for the last decade has some way of helping the end use balance the sound. I had to use a sound meter on my phone, and a white noise MP3 playing through the speakers to try to balance the sound. Since the app manages the Axiim Link device, the app should be able to connect to the mic on the phone and automatically adjust the volume of each speaker to properly balance the system. 2. Changes made with the app are not stored on the Axiim Link device. This is connected to the USB of a 2019 LG OLED TV, so it gets powered off when the TV gets powered off. When you turn the TV on you must open the app on your phone and change at least one of the speaker volume settings, and then all of the settings get pushed. Based on the size of the Axiim Link device, there should have been a tiny bit of space to put a tiny bit of non-volatile storage to save settings locally. 3. Periodically it will just stop responding to volume adjustments. The TV shows a change in volume level, and the app shows a change in volume level, yet the speakers are the same volume. Suddenly, 30 to 60 seconds later, the speakers change volume, and then it works normally for a while. 4. This last one is more of a complaint than a flaw, but there are no mounting holes or brackets on the speakers. This limits you to placing the speakers on the floor, a table, or shelf. Your floor stand options become limited since there is no way of attaching them to a mount, and you can't hang them on a wall.
Works well enough. Once the axiim link syncs to my phone with the app I can no longer control the volume with the TV remote, even once I disconnect the axiim link from my phone.
Also the power cables are advertised as 6’, the ones I received aren’t even 5’.
One other thing to note is you’ll need to keep the axiim link away from other devices transmitting a signal. I have my gaming PC hooked up in my living room and with the axiim link too close to the tower my controller kept losing connection. Haven’t tested with a consol yet.
Set up was easy, but i wouldn't call it plug and play. You must download the Axiim software in order to to make necessary adjustments to each speaker. The mid and and freqs were very good. The bass freqs were soso.
The quality of this product is great. My only complaint is that there are only two hookup options for running sound from a media source, (the hdmi port or optic cable). I had to go with the optic into a converter box for the 3.5 port on my projector for sound. This may be the cause of my front speakers popping at high volume.
