5.0 de 5 estrellas A preliminary review

I purchased this software, for my YouTube channel. It's just for use to illustrate points I wish to accentuate. I have been through the manual, several times and completed the first tutorial. This will definitely be worth the money I investested. I am particularly excited that I can use my own art, for these projects. As stated, I've only completed the tutorial. So far, so good!!!

4.0 de 5 estrellas Amazing Capability from Animation Start to Finish
Reseñado en los Estados Unidos el 4 de octubre de 2021

I received this animation software specifically to write a review. That said, I try to be honest and transparent in all my reviews.

(Please see the attached video; there is a lot of information packed into it.)

The package has amazing capabilities. This is the newest version of the animation packages that were formally released by SmithMicro, and now the two lead developers released this version from their own company, Lost Marble.

MoHo has features that will be familiar to those of you who have worked animation before including: layers, keyframes, tweening movements, bones, and onion skinning.

Additionally, it has the ability to do amazing keyswitches making layers and objects visible or invisible based on timing, position, etc. Then, there are combinations like "V-bones" that allow to you change the shape of the object attached to a bone in mid animation. These same capabilities allow for some very well done lip syncing for making the animated characters "talk" in sync with the voice track.

Very impressive.

Installation was a snap. Just have your registration/purchase code handy, and go to the Lost Marble site to download the package. You will want to be hooked to the internet when you first run the program both to register it as well as see if there are any late breaking updates.

This is now my go to software package for my animation work. Full stop.

All that said, the learning curve is very, very steep. You should not buy and expect to be cranking out Academy Award level animation with a few days. You can use the basic capabilities right away, but learning the nuances and the powerful engine just takes some well spent time.

All in all, this is the nicest Pro-Sumer level animation package that I have every used, and I highly recommend it.

5.0 de 5 estrellas An All-In-One Digital Art Studio
Reseñado en los Estados Unidos el 24 de octubre de 2021
I received a copy of this animation software to test out and trial. I have some experience with digital art and design using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, and I have to say that I’ve been impressed with this Moho Pro software.

This software is easy to learn and use. The software allows you to move layers and make layers invisible to work with them more easily.

I can see where this program could be complicated for someone that has not worked with digital art programs before, so this software is not recommended for the beginner digital artist.

The price point is a bit high, but you get what you pay for, and from what I can see thus far, it’s a one-time payment, unlike some other art software that I’ve used that requires a recurring monthly fee.

The software integrated well with photoshop, and it was pretty simple to import some of my previous artwork. Overall this is a high-quality program that gives you a ton of features for animating your work.

4.0 de 5 estrellas Powerful software for the semi-pro enthusiast, but be ready to learn
Reseñado en los Estados Unidos el 10 de septiembre de 2021
I'm no animator. I'm not even an artist. I am a dabbler, though, so I was particularly intrigued by the possibilities with Lost Marble's Moho Animation Software Pro 13.5. Although I could have opted for Moho Debut 13.5, which is a simplified and much less expensive version of this software like Adobe Photoshop Elements is to regular Photoshop, just like with Photoshop I would rather try and work with the best version of the software whenever possible.

Skeletal animation, or rigging, has been one of the great boons for animated shows and other projects. What it essentially involves is a surface representation called a mesh or skin over a hierarchical set of interconnected parts called bones that collectively form the skeleton or rig. In its simplest terms, this setup allows the animator to more easily and realistically make characters move with less effort. One of my favorite shows, Rick and Morty, makes use of these concepts, and is at the heart of Moho Animation Software Pro.

Of course, if you're considering software at this price point, which is high, but not outrageous, you're likely familiar with many of its concepts, including Smart and Vitruvian Bones, or at least willing to learn. Even though I'm a self-proclaimed dabbler, I do hope to use it for some professional projects now and again, as well as for fun personal experiments. So while someone like me should arguably go with Moho Debut 13.5 instead, the extra ambition and cost of this Pro software may be just the additional motivation you'll need to make more use of it.

As is typical for modern boxed software, you get a disc in a DVD-style case. There's no actual box like is implied on the store page. Inside of course are no instructions, just a welcome note, the serial number license code, and a discount for add-on products like additional assets. If you don't have a disc drive in your computer, or a USB add-on drive,  you can simply download the latest version of the software from the Lost Marble website and enter the included code. In other words, the disc is superfluous.

Although not as powerful as some of my other computers, I decided to install this to my Surface Book 2 because of the touchscreen and pen support. While the software supports macOS 10.15 or higher, I of course installed the Windows 10 version on my computer, which also meets the relatively modest minimum requirements.  You'll need just under 2GB of hard drive space for a full install.

Installation went smoothly. It required me to restart my computer to finish installation. The software icon is a stylized "m" and the software name is "Moho," although you'll also see it in marketing as "MoHo" and "MOHO". Once launched, it runs in its demo mode until you enter your serial number. When entering your serial number, be sure to enter the dashes or it won't work (capitalization doesn't matter).

When first starting the program, you're given the option of an INTRODUCTORY TUTORIAL (thankfully), an option to JOIN THE MOHO FORUM, an option to follow MOHO SOCIAL NETWORKS, and another option to BUY ADD-ONS. You can also choose not to show these opening options again and just start the software directly.

When you're in the software, a sample model is pre-loaded. You're able to manipulate the aforementioned bones and create timeline-based animations much like standard video editing software.

From there I began to tinker. Although I have yet to really make anything ready to demonstrate, it was indeed relatively easy to create and export simple animations, although the latter does take several minutes even with shorter creations and even using multiple CPU cores.

This is clearly powerful stuff for the dedicated enthusiast. Although the user interface is loaded and intimidating, it's again nothing out of the ordinary for this level of software. I feel like it's something I can eventually get a real handle on without issue, especially due to my background in other software like Photoshop.

Ultimately, I had a good time with the software. While I know you can read plenty of reviews from far more qualified artists and animators, as a casual user I can say it's well worth exploring if you have an interest in animation. It may not be for the true animation pros, but those who are well into the semi-pro enthusiast level should find a lot to like.

4.0 de 5 estrellas Animation Software
Reseñado en los Estados Unidos el 18 de septiembre de 2021
I'm not too good with the computer and downloading software but it use to be way more simple than now a days. I'm updating a past review of how horrible my experience was with this product. I tried downloading with disc and online countless times and would stop and give me a error message every time. After hours with no luck I gave up and gave one star. I sat back down again to try and through customer service we figured out my issue and updated my Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package. One I did that I was able to download that software. Thankfully! Once I downloaded and started messing with it I found it to be a little difficult but with a little effort it became easier. Now remember I'm no computer geek so someone with experience would probably have no issues. My granddaughter loves it and spend countless hours creating characters with no problems at all. She has even made her on videos and she say's it's quite simple once you get the feel of the program. So I now will recommend this software. It's worth the money when you see someone totally into it and the countless was for them to create and have a creative mind.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Versatile, a Little Complex, But a Reasonable Learning Curve
Reseñado en los Estados Unidos el 11 de octubre de 2021
Moho Pro software seemed intimidating at first but is incredibly
easy to pick up once you use the included tutorial pdf. There are many methods
to achieve animation with impressive results. This is my first time using this
software line and I expected the 3D features as well, however, there are ways
of still manipulating 3D-like environments and carrying over rendered objects in
Jpeg formats. By using the Vitruvian bones to smooth out shapes and animate
fluidly. The timeline reminds me of a video editor where you can manually
record your motions on the mouse over of your bones and select the points
In time, for which the chosen object begins animation. You can have many
things going on at once in between any two points in time. The drawing function
Is decent but crude, perhaps a drafting tablet is a better option but I rather import
from other sources like Photoshop. I also use this in combination with other
animation software with very little issue. The video results when exporting
are lossless but results may vary, depending on your graphics card and PC. I
will definitely continue using this until I am Pro at it (I’m a noob).

4.0 de 5 estrellas Amazing capabilities, very steep learning curve
Reseñado en los Estados Unidos el 6 de diciembre de 2021
I have experience with 2D digital drawing in Photoshop and other similar programs and I have experience 3D animating with Poser, DAZ, and Maya but I've never tried my hand at animating my 2D digital art. I thought it might be a fun new area to explore. I'm not a professional and everything I've done is all at the hobby level. This is a pretty pricey program to use for a hobbiest like myself and if the price point is too high they do offer the more basic package called Moho Debut. However, if you are really interested in animating even as a hobby, I think the Pro version is worth it for all the additional features it has. I especially appreciate that it imports my photoshop layers and if I update the photoshop layers it updates the file in Moho too. If you are creating things with layers that you want to keep as separate layers this is a huge difference from debut that for me is a big plus. You also get a lot more control over bones and transformations.

If you have previous experience with flash supposedly there's a lot of similar features you'll be familiar with (I never animated anything in flash so I can't comment on how similar it is). There are also many features you'll find familiar if you have experience with drawing programs that work with layers or with 3D art/animation programs. This is, in my opinion, a great program for making your 2D art into an animation. However, it does have a steep learning curve. Even with experience I don't think anyone is going to open this program and immediately start creating any award winning animations. However, there are a lot of videos, and tutorials out there and if you commit some time to actually learning and using the program you will be eventually make some really nice stuff. Even when I had a basic understanding of the tools in the program getting a feel of how to actually use them well took time. I've been using it lightly for about 3 months and still don't feel proficient, but what I'm able to do in it now is definitely better than what I was doing a few months ago when I first got it. The learning curve is steep, but worth it if you want to create good animations.

5.0 de 5 estrellas A GREAT PLACE TO START
Reseñado en los Estados Unidos el 4 de septiembre de 2021
I got two versions of this Moho software:
- Debut 13.5 for $59.99
- Pro 13.5 for $399.99

If you're a beginner just getting started or just want to test out this software, obviously the Debut is a good option. If you know what you want or have more advanced skills, the Pro may be just right for you.

I got these for my daughter so she could take the animation on her blog to the next level. I'll report back as she gains more experience with these two programs, obviously starting with the Debut!

4.0 de 5 estrellas Overall, probably depends on the type of animation you want to do. Pro software for Animation only.
Reseñado en los Estados Unidos el 7 de diciembre de 2021
If you want simple 2D animations or straight frame to frame animations like in a 2D videogame object, it's probably better to go with a public domain system like Blender. However, Moho does have a lot of strong animation tools and works with both 2D and 3D models. Tools are relatively easy to use especially for those familiar with many of the animation tools and such out there. It's heads above the last system I used back in 1995, when I was making videogame animations at a game school in Vancouver. We used a hand-me down software, the version of 3D Studio prior to 3D Studio Max, and the difference was like working with Windows 3.11 vs Windows 95 for those who remember those days. This is a polished product, the cost is not high like the licensing fee for 3D studio, but you will need to add something like Blender or Max to create the models and other objects. Moho is strictly and animation program. Therefore, the target audience would be animators who need something to create the animation from pre-created models. It gets a mild recommend for combining with Blender or other inexpensive modeling software to do a professional finishing touch on your animations.

3.0 de 5 estrellas KNOW WHAT YOU'RE GETTING INTO!
Reseñado en los Estados Unidos el 19 de febrero de 2022
When they say this is for professionals they are not kidding! I've used Photoshop for years (and a few other animation software programs), but it did not prepare me for this software. There is a very steep learning curve with this and after 5+ months I'm still figuring it out. It is not easy to learn at all, even with a tutorial. This is very powerful software that will do pretty much you need to do in the world of animation.

Don't get this for a youngster who likes to draw because the skill required to use it is too great. Even for me it is! I was thinking this was going to be something you could use as a weekend hobby without much instruction. I was wrong! There are so many features it is overwhelming. Unless you're very experienced with animation software start with the Moho Debut program. It's much easier to use. However, if you've got your notches on your belt with animation programs, then this will be like having your art studio digitally at your fingertips.
